As response to Rjkheenth20 of University of Cebu (UC) on behalf of my friend and former colleague at USC Talamban, his comments were posted in 2014 and he's abroad since last year. Our apologies for erroneous information which I think he also got from his former students who transferred to UC main and banilad. First, may I correct the impression and perception that faculty instructors and professors of USC School of Engineering and the studentry are "Rich". Based on statistics, the economic profile of our students, majority (90%) belong to the middle working class families, many of them are supported by their parents or siblings overseas, less than 5% belong to the upper class those parents which are "owners of businesses and companies". We are proud that the USC School of Engineering has the highest number of national government / state scholars (e.g. DOST, CHED), Corporate scholars (e.g. San Miguel Corp., Pilipinas Shell, Ayala Corp., PLDT Smart, Nestle Phils., Unilever, Proctor & Gamble, Accenture, Lexmark, Gokongwie JG Summit, United Laboratories, PNOC, Petron Corp., Bayer Chemicals, Seimens, USC Alumni US-Canada scholarship, etc.) both in the undergraduate and graduate programs among engineering schools in the Visayas region.

The faculty of USC School of Engineering have the most number of PhDs or Doctorate and Master of Science or Master of Engineering degrees in Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer and Industrial Management Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning & Landscape Architecture which are graduates of high caliber universities in the Philippines (UP Diliman, DLSU, Ateneo de Manila, UST) and all the instructors have Master degrees in Engineering, Pure & Applied Sciences, Architecture, Urban Planning & Landscape Architecture, Interior & Industrial Design. All of our faculty have been sponsored by Phil. and International Scholarship programs from DOST, CHED and foreign scholarships of US, Japan, Australia, UK, Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden which were granted to USC. Thus our faculty at USC School of Engineering are not "Rich" and they were not able to obtain their doctoral and masters degree abroad with their own or family bursary rather they are all Scholars based on merit and credentials, many even worked part time as research and teaching assistants, tutors, etc. to augment their income and cover living expenses abroad though they continue to receive salary from USC as part of the scholarship grant contract.

USC School of Engineering is among the oldest engineering school outside Manila which was established in 1939 about 75 years ago by SVD German missionaries engineers and scientists with PhDs in engineering and sciences (physics, chemistry, math, biology). USC is the first PAASCU accredited engineering school together with De La Salle University since 1970s. Tradition of Academic Excellence and leadership in Research and Development is a trademark of USC School of Engineering with its Alumni Carolinian Engineers who are corporate leaders (CEOs, Presidents, Vice Presidents of Phil. Corporations), Forerunners & CEOs of Homegrown Export industries in Cebu ( top Phil. exporters and manufacturers of processed mangoes, tropical fruits, seaweeds & carrageenan, rattan & mixed materials furniture, metalworking, costume, precious stones & fine jewelries, toiletries & cosmetics). Couple of them are successful engineers, scientists in US, Canada, Europe and Australia working in world class companies and institutions such as NASA, USAF, US EPA, US FDA, Boeing, ABB, Airbus, IBM Int'l, AT&T, Bell Canada, Research in Motion Canada (Blackberry), General Motors, Ford Motors, Fiat Chrysler, Toyota Canada, Volkswagen AG, General Electric, Bombardier, Bayer Chemicals, BASF Chemicals, Dupont Chemicals, Merck, Seimens & Bosch, Agilent Tech., Texas Instruments, Silicon Valley Electronics industry, Stelco, US Steel Corp., Thyseen, Henkel, Kurps, Multinational Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing companies, Exxon Mobil, Chevron Corp., Texas Oil Corp., Imperial Oil Canada, British Petroleum, SGS, TUV, Deloitte, Clark Kimberly, etc and the track record of national and international publications of researches conducted by the faculty and graduate level students.

USC School of Engineering is recognized as Full Autonomous status by CHED as with other two engineering schools in Central Visayas (Silliman, USJR). CHED has awarded USC School of Engineering as Center of Development in Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering programs which attests to the top caliber and high quality of standard of the Faculty, Infrastructure, Facilities, Laboratories, Research Centers, Instruction, Community Extension most important the Admission (entrance tests) and Retention of students and Class Room Size (students to teacher ratio). USC School of Engineering is ranked among top 5 engineering schools based on CHED and PAASCU accreditation. Recently, USC School of Engineering has been granted International Accreditation by the Phil. Technological Engineering Council official accreditation body in the Phils. of the Washington Accord as of 2015 there are only five engineering schools in the Phils. recognized by the Washington Accord; Mapua Institute of Technology, UP Diliman, De La Salle Taft and USC Talamban.

USC School of Engineering has track record of board exam placers and topnotchers since 1955 in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering Certification exam. As well our topnotchers in Chemists, Architecture and Interior Design. It is the Passing Percentage of our graduates that gauge the quality of engineering education, USC has among highest passing percentage in the Visayas region particularly in Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Eng'g, Chemists and Architecture board exam far higher than the national passing percentage, our Chemical Eng'g, Chemists and Architecture are among the best in the country consistently among top performing school in the board exams.

USC Talamban campus is one of the largest university campus nationwide which is a 120 hectares property acquired by the Society of Divine Word (SVD) through donations from Germany and Netherlands. By 2025 it will be among the first Univer-City campus in the Phils. with new and bigger School of Engineering complex buildings housing fully airconditioned, muti-media classrooms, state of the art facilities, laboratories, specialized tech. training, innovation & research facilities on advanced engineering technologies : CAD, CAE, CAM, precision CNC & EDM machining, robotics, micro & nano electronics, biochemical process & biotechnology, environmental eng'g, instrumentation & process control, industrial metrology & calibration, civil & construction eng'g, hydrology & water resource eng'g, materials science & eng'g, computer hardware & software eng'g, renewable energy eng'g, integrated quality system eng'g, industrial & product design eng'g. It will also house 2500 to 3000 seats capacity conference, seminars, convocation auditorium & technology exhibition hall, mess hall / food court, eco-garden top and designed to conform with international structural, architectural, environmental, health and safety standards! The existing Bunzel Building will be converted into a commercial mall with partnership of big corporations and alumni association. Presently, USC Talamban has the biggest university library and learning center, one of the Phils largest university stadium and different academic buildings of the schools of arts & sciences, architecture, fine arts & design, health care professions (pharmacy, nursing & nutrition), university church, dormitories, social recreation centers and in-campus public transport (electric hybrid transport is envisioned).
