i have been with other ACE.... I.R.O.... there hasnt been any objections with the name of the org coz it really does add up sa org.. bt ULTIMATE? (turtle fighting inyong gisugdan diri?)

That's why I am initiating the change of name..

Anyway, im really sorry to point this out, but ultimate is not really synonymous with fighting..never have been..
Define: Ultimate (from google)
•furthest or highest in degree or order;
•the finest or most superior quality of its kind;
•being the last or concluding element of a series

All the first 3 definitions can be applied to our turtle org:
-1st and 2nd definition- this org is supposed to exemplify what is best about, of, for, and by our pet turtles and their owners..
-3rd definition- this org is the last of the several attempts here in ISTORYA.NET to try to have a forum related to turtles.. other one is the Turtles and Tortoises Lovers..and the only one that actually made an exhibit..thanks to Ki and others..

so if we say Ultimate Enthusiasts of Turtles.. the above definitions are much clearer and the relationship among the chosen words are more understandable already..

In addition, i made some extra research and found out that there are clubs and organizations with the term "Ultimate" as part of their name, and it didn't involve members rassling and grappling each other..

1. Ultimate Organization ->- Ultimate Organization | Consulting | Project Management (business consultation firm)
2. Ultimate Voluntary Organisation (UVO) ->Ultimate Voluntary Organization | Facebook (civic club)
3. The Ultimate Stay ->theultimatestay.com (organization of hotels, resorts)
4. The Ultimate Youth Organization of India->'Yuva Dot Com' - The Ultimate Youth Organization Of India |Arts & Entertainment | Online Community | SiliconIndia Community (civic group)
5. too many to mention.. my point is, what's the difference between them having "Ultimate" as part of their name and that of the CUTE?

Guys, i would like to reiterate that i have nothing against changing the name from "Ultimate" to "United" since "United" was also my suggestion in the first place..

This would be my last time to speak (write on this subject), too many words have been spoken, I've clarified what i wanted to clarify, I'll just rest my case..

CEBU ULTIMATE TURTLE ENTHUSIASTS

I think the name sounds alright. The agreement of words is there and it make sense. The word ULTIMATE doesn't mean fighting is involve.

Just like the creation of the name sa ACE. I am the one who suggested that the name of the group to be Cebu Aquatic Resources Enthusiasts (CARE) here in the forum and during our first meeting sometimes in June 2008. But many said that the acronym doesn't sound to mean about the aquarium hobby as it might be interpreted to mean about for example "care giving" groups or anything that deals with some humanitarian practice. Markykoi is the one who suggested Aquatic Cebu Enthusiasts wherein there's some confusion in the arrangement of words as there is no agreement to mean what. It might be the acronym ACE sounds nice. I think it was Zerk who said that we are going to have instead Cebu Aquatic Enthusiasts (which has a better agreement of words) but one retorted that the acronym CAE is not good as it might be mistook as Chinese Algae Eater. But anyway votation was made and since ACE got the most number of votes during that meeting thus ACE was the adopted name. So guys, whatever will be the name, what is important you have the spirit and love of the hobby.

How do you define an active member?

a. only those who gave specimen for the exhibit
b. others, who in one way or another was there to support the group regardless of being at the exhibit or not..(like just being on this thread..to provide research and info for those who need it..)
