Ping preparing new exposés against GMA
MANILA, Philippines - The plunder case filed yesterday against former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo may just be the start as Senator Panfilo Lacson is preparing new exposés against former President Arroyo.
Lacson said he has in his possession several documents that would prove more instances of corruption during the Arroyo administration.
He told reporters that a number of people have contacted him, expressing intention to give more documents that would pin down the former President and prove her involvement in the misuse of funds.
The senator said these are new anomalies that can be categorized as plunder as these involve billions of pesos.
Lacson said his tipsters are ordinary citizens who are formerly with the government and may have had access to documents. He did not give details, saying he would be reviewing the documents at the resumption of the session at the Senate.
Lacson was speaking to reporters after the inauguration of the seven kilometer R-1 extension project of the Manila-Cavite toll expressway in Kawit where President Aquino was also present.
Aquino acknowledged Lacson, saying he was happy to see the senator.
Lacson told reporters that by planning new exposes against former President Arroyo, he wanted to contribute to the Aquino administration’s fight against corruption.
He said “it’s about time” that plunder charges be filed against Mrs. Arroyo and he is hopeful that the case would reach its “logical conclusion.”
