Default So called " Exotic Pets"...

I have read in the pet section on classified ads regarding purchase of PACMAN FROGS and another one selling a rapidly declining Leopard Cat.

These really made me upset... The fact that Pacman frogs would devour anything it can fit in its mouth and would literally explode due to overeating is an ECOLOGICAL DISASTER waiting to happen.

Have you seen that segment on National Geographic about Feral Cane Toads overunning Australia and endangering the wild life so with Brown Tree Snakes in Hawaii It is already happening here regarding Janitor Fishes overunning rivers in Luzon and causing trouble to the local wildlife.

What if they got loose in multiplies rapidly in our backyards? What if it would devour your precious hamsters, parakeets, lovebirds, guinea pigs, new born kittens and puppies, Kois, goldfishes, poultry, and fighting cock chicks?

Regarding the illegal pet trade, I think the people at DENR are HELLA' PIECE OF S***S!!! They are not doing their jobs in regulating and apprehending these people who peddles them.

Earlier this year, I passed by Manalili street to check on fishes when this idiot tried to sell me this, I'm sure, illegally caught Leopard Cat for 3,000 pesos, believe me they cost more than the most expensive dogs!!! I asked myself where the hell did he got it! He placed it inside a birdcage and covered it with a piece of cloth to hide it from authorities who might confiscate it! Why do I see coral fishes (I'm sure caught by cyanide), Pythons, Iguanas being sold in the streets?

What is your take regarding these issues?

    *Conservation:
In Hong Kong, it is a protected species under Wild Animals Protection Ordinance Cap 170. The population is well over 50,000 individuals and though declining, the cat is not endangered
    *wikipedia. leopardcats.conservation..as of 3 March 2008, at 19:12 modified http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopard_Cat

anyhoo, im also not for exotic animals being sold at the streets..
