.. thanks for the thought. but let me just highlight a simple line of yours
..
you're not a regular, hence, you don't know what's happening in this Board. In other words, you have less right to say what you want to say.
Is it now a rule that 'infrequent' visitors to this board have less 'right' to say what they want to say? If you noticed, several who are regulars to this board agree to my opinion, and that means I was able to articulate their thoughts too, so is that enough basis now for you to acknowledge my 'equal' right to say what I want to say?
.. and read to what muchacho said:
.. i know i gave muchacho the Mute, but at least he learned his lesson. That should be what members should do, REPORT ANY USELESS THREAD.
The way I see it (and you can read the comments), people are now going to avoid commenting in threads that the moderator MAY find stupid. Is this how the management of Istorya.net wants it? for members to be hesitant in expressing their views in this site for fear of being muted?
.. and to all members, please, if you already see that a thread is useless or redundant, please, for your sake, don't reply just click the Report Button.
Has it occurred to you that some members MIGHT not find a thread stupid as you see it hence they don't click the report button? That they may even find what you consider a 'stupid' thread worth their while and reply to it? Just to site your example of the most 'stupid' thread involving the kiss marks - which by the way you haven't deleted, it is now 4 pages and if you go through the posts, someone actually had that same experience as expressed by the thread starter and the discussions were amusing. Some do post 'stupid' comments worthy of being muted, but why generalize?
.. and to those who still want to make Personal Help Me Threads, I'm sorry, but no more, if you want that, you have FB and your friends in FB for that. Not here in istorya.net.
Correct me if I am wrong but the objective of istorya.net is to be a venue for discussions that are not exactly the same as it is in facebook. It is also NOT for you to decide or tell members what and where to express themselves, whether here or in another forum. We are here because we LIKE it here, even if some members (mostly new) start 'stupid' threads. Sanction them to teach them a lesson, but don't go beyond that because that would not be fair.
.. and please, stop complaining, MODS THIS AND MODS THAT, MOD ABUSING, MOD POWER TRIPPING and all that complaints.
Do you honestly think people will complain just for the sake of complaining? You have the job of moderating, and so if some see that you are not doing your job right, do you demand that they just keep quiet OR ELSE?
.. let me just remind you guys;
We moderators have been given the responsibility to take care of this forum - of istorya.net, we will do whatever it takes to make this forum fun but at the same time SANE
It is indeed your responsibility to take care of this forum for fun and to keep it sane, that is why you have the right to lock or delete threads 'on sight' if it is warranted. Please don't take away the fun of being here by arbitrarily punishing members with new rules that are vague and subjective.
.. and final reminder :: read the rules again
Announcements - News & Announcements
.. and especially read rule # 17
Now here's the tricky part on the rules as you understand them:
5. Make sure that the topic you are about to start with have not been discussed already. Please use the search feature first. Any redundant topics will be locked or deleted on sight.
This one is crystal clear. You can mute or even ban violators with this rule. The next one may be argued:
17. These rules are subject to change without prior notice.
Did you just 'change' the rules or did you make a new one? Did you discuss this new rule with your superior or was this made by you alone as you find so many threads here 'stupid', irrelevant, and makes your job difficult? Changing rules is NOT making rules. But whether you changed it or made a new one, how exactly is it stated? Stop Making Stupid and Irrelevant Threads - as a rule is too vague and subject to differing interpretations. With the sanction of being muted, I think members deserve a more specific and clearly stated rule not dependent solely on the moderator's discretion. It's not fun being muted.
