i never seen them protested silently sir..even before,,so part najud ni nila ang pag create ug violence every time they make protest...tanawa gud sir kung naa rally kinsa ang una mo provoke sa kagubot? ang mga police ba? dili? sila ang mg una una? pro tanawa kung naa ba ma priso ug dugay? wala. diba? ngano man? kay kibaw sila nga makagawas ra gihapon sila....

I'm not going to argue on personal attacks and issues like this because it's a waste of time and lacks civility. You don't see me insulting you personally, so just don't do it.

PUP students dont ask any mercy from your kinds... in fact theyre doing it on their own.
i answered your post point by point.. and as a whole what im trying to say is you dont have a damn clue
Is it a fact that they are doing it on their own despite the real fact that PUP is a highly subsidized school, subsidized by TAXPAYER money? Stop skirting around the issue, the tuition of these students is barely able to keep that school afloat for a few weeks, it survives almost entirely on government support.

of what is happening. good for you, youve been blessed with such "privilege"... but for some who are not as lucky, they are trying hard, no matter how difficult as it may seems.
This is not about my "privilege" or these students "poverty" it is about action and responsibility. This is not about me, this is about them so I appreciate your thoughts but please keep it on topic. This is about the violence they perpetrated, which you condone by your refusal to condemn.

employment? as i said, do your research. PUP grads do not lack employment after graduation. esp. those who are exceptionally bright ones... PUP have been on this activism for more than 100 years and yet companies hire their grads not more on their school's background but more on the fact that these employers know very well that these grads are not your ordinary well-fed grads. they know how to stick it out when rough sailings happen.. and they know they have a thinking and assertive future employees on their hands.
All anecdotal evidence. I am sure many PUP grads do not get good jobs. "Exceptionally bright ones?" please define what that means, I hope it does not mean bright enough to steal chairs and set them on fire.

third, it seems that you post but not read. you bark but not listen.
did i say im still studying there? chrissake, PUP days are more than 20years past me already! hahaha
Did I say you are studying there? I said your fellow STUDENTS, because your an alumni there, how else does one refer to ones fellow graduates or soon-to-be grads. Learn to read within context.

if you lecture self-reliance, i dare you not include a PUP student on it coz he may turn out to be more knowledgable than you in all aspects of the word.
They are not self-reliant because taxpayers subsidize their education. That is a very simple concept, not beyond the grasp of anyone who call themselves educated.

And please enough of the self-congratulatory praises for PUP and its students. If they are exceptionally smart, I assure you, there are much more exceptionally smart and intelligent students than they are, who do not commit arson or theft. So get real, employers will not forget this and this is not going to have a good effect on PUP and its students.

PUP students are there exactly because the tuition is low and standard of education is good. a 2000% increase would definitely shock and anger anyone. even you im sure. so, the question is, how would you react? are you sure dili sad mo ma-violent?

most of them, if not all, study as well as work. they pay their taxes, we all do. if we buy something, we're charged VAT. if we're working, we have income tax. please also note that just because they are iskolar ng bayan doesnt mean they dont pay tuition. some study tuition-free, not all. if you say that you as a taxpayer is paying or subsidizing their tuition, sila diay, dili diay sila taxpayer? ilang parents dili diay taxpayer? so pleaseeee, they are not freeloaders. let us not make sweeping generalizations kay we sound uneducated! take note that freeloader is defined as "to impose upon another's generosity or hospitality without sharing in the cost or responsibility involved." as a taxpayer, they pay for their education. by paying tuition, they pay for their education. they are not making their financial status an excuse para kaloy-an ug hatagan. di baya sayon mo-skwela dha. taas baya ang standard, kailangan tuon sad ka ug maayo. d kaha sila e-kick out kung mgka-hagbung-hagbong na lang pud.naningkamot pud ni sila taman sa ginhawa para ma-sustain ilang pag-skwela. their being there is a testament to their hard work and intelligence. they are earning their keep, so to speak! and dont say "by joining rallies?" kay again we sound like we're losing the argument.

please be careful about what you say. if we are being so righteous as to condemn people for being overcome by strong emotion and being human, let's make sure we can never be accused of the same too. mag-wonder lang ko, basin wa gyud mo kasuway nga nakapanghagis, nakasakit sa ubang taw sa inyong kalagot. kung pirmi lang siguro sila nga nangsunog ug school property ug panakit ug mga taw just to get their way every time nga naay issue nga dili sila ganahan, kana siguro, mga maldito na gyud kaayo. pero kung isolated case lang, then exceptional case na gyud na. napuno na gyud sila, and really, can you blame them? they just wanted a big enough ruckus to wake you up, and it's working. they're getting exactly what they want, which is a review on the 2000% tuition fee increase plan, plus we're talking about the issue, pressure by publicity, it's working . . .

basin misinformed ko or unsa ba. i'm not even a law/polsci student.
but diin ka aning A college education is not a right, it is a privilege. ?
    PUP is a public, non-sectarian, non-profit institution.
share lang ko read this BP232 chapter2 sec.3
Secondly, employers want winners not whiners. We don't care about your particular situation, we only care how you handled it and violence is never a + in any employer's books. That is why I said this will have a very negative impact on employment prospects for future PUP grads whether you like it or not. It is by simple operation of logic... employers don't want troublemakers and once your school gains a reputation for that, it will seriously affect the sensibilities of hiring agents especially since there are so many other grads looking for work from schools not known for this kind of bullying behavior.
if you don't care, why post here? are you an employer or what?
plus, you might want to contact employers of these PUPians na wala dapat sila dawata kay PUPian sila. taas man gud, 9pages, ikaw nalang bahala browse.
Third, you should not be criticizing people here, instead turn around and tell your fellow students that they have committed a grave mistake and inflicted serious harm on their own school. At the end of the day, their actions have tarnished PUP's image far more than the 2000% hike. I am sick and tired of people using poverty as an excuse for all kinds of behavior. Yes we know the Philippines is a poor country full of poor people, but what do you reckon is the cause of that? The 2000% hike or the mendicant attitude and lack of self-reliance?
bai, as if we were born yesterday, student activism in UP, PUP and so on has been there since late 1960s-early 1970s.
if "guba" na ang image aning schools since then, do you think nag exist pa ning skwelahana ron ?

ako lang pod i share diri, jst in case wala pod ka kabasa:

    • TF Increase will affect 50,000 poor enrollees next semester

    • PUP is supposed to be the most accessible university with its P12 per unit tuition. What happens now to our poor students and high school graduates

    • In the approved 2010 national budget, PUP budget was reduced by P43 million to only P661 million for the entire PUP System.

This is the reason why the PUP administration is now being forced to get funds elsewhere, at the expense of students. It is also now resorting to commercialization by soliciting grants and businesses from private corporations. This is state abandonment of education, of our poor students.
ur talking respect and about tax? how about these?

NBN-ZTE project (2007): Losing bidder Joey de Venecia said a $329-million National Broadband Network (NBN) contract with China’s ZTE Corp. was overpriced by $130 million to cover kickbacks and involved First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo. Ms Arroyo later scrapped the deal.

Jose Pidal (2003): A Senate panel looked into charges that First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo had amassed over P200 million from campaign contributions and put the money in secret bank accounts, some under the name of “Jose Pidal.” Mike Arroyo’s brother, Ignacio, claimed he owned the accounts, but invoked his right to privacy.

Fertilizer fund scam (2004): Following charges that Ms Arroyo engaged in “virtual vote-buying” by authorizing the release of P728 million to favored officials weeks before the 2004 presidential election, a Senate panel concluded that she should be held accountable. Plunder and other charges were recommended against Agriculture Undersecretary Jocelyn Bolante and nine others.

Cashhandouts (2007): Ms Arroyo had breakfast in Malacañang with over 100 congressmen and around 200 local officials who later were given paper bags containing between P200,000 and P500,000 in cash, described by critics as a bribe to quash an impeachment case against her.

NorthRail (2003): Former Sen. Franklin Drilon described the $503-million NorthRail project “the greatest train robbery in history.” Experts said the mass transit project from Caloocan City to Malolos was simply an upgrading of the old railway system.

SouthRail (2007): Critics said the $932-million SouthRail project funded by a Chinese loan to link Laguna to Bicol provinces was overpriced by 22 percent, or about $70 million

did UP and PUP BOR even bother to do such thing as "Respect" ?
    think again.

adding more, understandable inyu sentiments, but before saying/doing anything else (as what you've said) you should also know how to listen, did the UP/PUP BOR did?

    read this:
    Vandalismo
    Dr. Rolando B. Tolentino
Dean, UP College of Mass Communication

    here's another one:

A Public Apology from the UP Community
A Public Apology from the UP Community Regarding the Events of March 24, 2010

We are from the University of the Philippines (UP), and on behalf of our dear Board of Regents (BOR), especially the esteemed President Emerlinda Roman, we apologize. Contrary to what the whole nation witnessed on March 24, 2010, not all members of the University are rude, uncouth and disrespectful.

Contrary to what the whole nation witnessed on March 24, 2010, there are some of us who still believe in defending our constitutional rights, in democratic governance, in a leader's polite and steadfast service to her constitutents.

We are sorry that our BOR has acted with such vulgarity as to sow disillusionment, disgust and disunity within the University. We are sorry that this kind of confrontational violence has had to happen, but the actions of the UP administration have left us no choice. It is our greatest shame that UP, the "National University," has set the chilling trend among state universities of railroading unjust tuition increases through the blatant disregard of democratic principles. No carefully-worded statement, no polite dialogue, no humble request has been heeded by President Roman and her colleagues. Instead, they have chosen to rudely disenfranchise the UP community, including its sectoral regents, in order to have their way with the University's policies, leadership and overall thrust. These are embarrassing actions which are highly unbecoming of an Iskolar ng Bayan, and on their behalf, we apologize.

We apologize further for the apathy of those in our ranks who seem to be more concerned with civil gestures rather than the welfare of the people. We are sorry that this culture of misplaced priorities has been allowed to spread among the community, no thanks to President Roman being in the vanguard of such an obscene mindset. We do not apologize, however, for our militant actions; again, we wish to emphasize that the inconsiderate leadership of the Roman administration has left us with no other choice but to confront it head-on.

We are sorry to have sullied a national architectural treasure like Juan Nakpil's Quezon Hall, but the damage is not something a coat of paint and a good scrubbing cannot remedy. The damage President Roman and the BOR have caused to the University, to education, and to the people, however, cannot be so easily repaired. For that, we are truly sorry.

mao nay gi-ingon, bro, nga desperado na sila. they're willing to risk everything para lang maka-skwela. na-foresee na pud siguro nila nga pwede silang makasuhan, pero gibuhat gihapon nila. willing gyud mo-face sa consequences. i commend them for the courage to fight for what they want and need

so yeah, never give up the fight!

kung di sila maninguha makahuman, mag-unsa na man lang sila. mag-minimum-wage worker. di baya tanan naay capital para ma-business. dugang na lang sila sa nag-lisod. at least kungmakahuman, dakodako ang chances nga mo-angat ang kinabuhi. pwede pa sila e-hire og multinational companies. this same fighting spirit will help them overcome the struggles that life brings and possibly lead them to personal and professional success. modern na man ta karon, i would like to think that companies do not want yes-men and women now, but assertive men and women speaking out and fighting to win
