The New Orleans Hornets and Toronto Raptors have agreed in principle on a five-player trade that would send Peja Stojakovic and Jerryd Bayless to the Raptors for Jarrett Jack, David Andersen and Marcus Banks, a source told ESPN.com Saturday.

The deal was close to being completed Friday night, but had been held up over the amount of cash the Hornets would send to the Raptors in the trade, according to a source with direct knowledge of the talks, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

In order for the deal to pass muster under league rules, it actually would be executed as two separate trades to get around a restriction preventing Bayless from being included in a multi-player deal prior to Dec. 23 -- two months from the date the Hornets acquired Bayless from Portland.

I heard this deal is done in principle - just needs an approval from the NBA office . I hope it will be official by Monday ..

poor Jerryd Bayless, well his getting less playing time in NOH compare from his previous team- Blazers.

Wait isn't Jack the Raptors starting point guard or is it Calderon. Anyway, now J-Bay can be the back up for Calderon. Wait, his not a natural PG, so is Barbosa. Their both undersized SGs. I don't know what the Raptors are trying to accomplish from this trade.

    @ FAQ

Actually colby, Bayless was a back-up PG for Chris Paul . The problem is that he's not a natural PG that's why the trade happened in the first place . Jack would be a good back-up for CP3 than Bayless .. There's rumors that they're looking to trade CP3 as well , so if CP3 gets traded , at least an experienced PG can take the starting position .

For the Raptors , they're really heavily sold-out on Calderon .. Three seasons ago , there was Calderon-Ford controversy ... in the end they traded Ford. Last season until yesterday, there was a Calderon-Jack controversy... in the end they traded Jack. So now I guess , Calderon will be the starting PG for the rest of the season. Yes, Jack started all of Raps' previous games this season with a "not satisfactory" performance .

Getting Peja is another "asset" for the Raptors on the TRADE DEADLINE - he has an expiring contract . Whatever the intention of getting him , it gives the Raps flexibility . Potential playoffs teams who would like to add a good outside shooter , this is the guy to get . In NO , Peja lost his starting spot and got replaced by the former Raptor, Marco Belinelli . For Bayless , I guess he'll be part of the Raps rebuilding process . Barbosa is injured right now and could miss a lot of games , so it's really good there's someone to take Barbosa's minutes . Also , the Raptors received an undisclosed amount of cash on this trade .. Oh , giving up Andersen gives the Raps a vacant spot on the roster and when Ed Davis comes back , he'll take over his minutes ..

I will miss Jack though . He's a great guy on the team and Andersen too . As for Banks , hmmm , I'm gonna miss his job as the Raps' dummy . It would be so funny if he suddenly blossomed in NO like Belinelli ..

Idol ni nako si [Avenging PIRANHA] .. Wa pay 1 month , CIA na . Hehehe

^^ Sir, Jerryd Bayless has been playing well for the Raptors on the time he is on the floor. I'm actually a Bayless fan when he was a member of the Arizona Wildcats. I'm happy his doing okay, definitely better than he did in NOH.

I was reading his blog, it was a nice read:

although this team is on a 12-game losing streak, up lang nato ilang thread kay wala nay update2x ilang mga "ultimate fans"

Timberwolves enjoy a rare laugher at the expense of no-name Raptors
Without checking a box score or scanning the Internet, can you name five players on the Toronto Raptors?

In addition to having one of the NBA's five worst records, the Raptors could be the league's most anonymous team. Do the names Alexis Ajinca, Solomon Alabi, Sonny Weems, Amir Johnson, Trey Johnson, DeMar DeRozan or Linas Kleiza ring a bell?

The obscure Raptors, who came to Target Center on Saturday night with a 10-game losing streak, are the kind of team the Wolves needed to play — a team with minimal talent and eight players with two years or less of NBA experience.
