A MULTIBILLION-PESO project located in the Mandaue City reclamation area is expected to help boost the tourism potential of the province of Cebu.

The boardwalk, designed as a tourism and leisure hub in Cebu, will sit on the 14-hectare area of the 118-hectare Mandaue reclamation project, also a project of FFCCI.

Prospective investors include a group from the United States that wants to develop four hectares of the Boardwalk into a retirement city and a Korean theme park operator, which expressed interest in running CB’s one-hectare family theme park.

Aside from the retirement city and theme park, Cebu Boardwalk will also have an 8,000-square-meter amphitheater park, which will be an ideal venue for concerts, theater productions, cultural presentations and huge expositions; cinemas; art gallery; marina and yacht club; marina promenade; a Zen center where fitness gyms, health spas, hair salons and skin and body care salons will be located.

It will also have a tourist center, visitor center, souvenir shops, antique shops, duty free shops, restaurant strips, fastfood chains, food court, retail shops, banks, themed flea market and a trade and exhibition center.

Gomos said FFCCI aims to transform the area into a world-class visitor destination, aside from spurring economic and financial development in Mandaue. This will enhance tourism and socio-economic activities, ensuring sustainable and excellent quality development.[/size]

I just wish that it will be here soon to promote tourism. Like the emperor palace in bangkok. about 280 pesos per person per entry. And the tourist are flocking all over. Its like saying that you havent been to bangkok if you didnt been there.

Mao sab gyud na akong pangandoy sa Cebu nga it will strive to be different and not be the same as the other Philippine cities. Akong pasabot, mas limpiyo, mas safe, mas malambu-on i kumparar sa uban nga lugar sa Pilipinas.

livewire, yup nindot tu ang GrandPalace sa Bangkok... i think the closest to that that we have here in Philippines is Intramuros sa Manila... hey rusty18, actually katung Tunnel nga imong giingon -- that was actually a Subway tunnel that would connect the SRP to the M.L.Quezon Highway up going north. The original plan was to build a flyover passing at Plaza Independencia near Fort San Pedro. This would involve the cutting of the centuries old Acacia trees in the park. Of course daghan jud ni oppose therefore the Subway Plan... but that was during the time of Mayor Alvin Garcia. Now that Tommy is mayor iyang gi scrap kay mahal ra kaayo ang subway.

Actually dugay na kaayo na nga plan nga mag reclaim diha sa Cordova. Ambot madayon ba ni or dili... There was even a plan to reclaim a land north of Mactan para sa construction of a second runway for the Mactan Airport... Madayon siguro ni, long term plans man gud ni so meaning dili kinahanglan i implement dayon.... naa man gani tu plan nga magtukod ug alternate international airport sa Daan Bantayan, north of Cebu...

Also during the time of Mayor Garcia, naay Waterfront Development Project or Cebu Boardwalk/Heritage Walk... the project would have included the complete restoration/renovation of the old buildings in the downtown area, cleaning up of the canals and esteros and lining these up with restaurants, etc., putting up of a cobble stone street in Colon, etc... Wala pod nadayon kay gi scrap ni Tommy kay mahal ra and then dili daw niya priority.

But actually the project has accomplished some things like:

1.) Putting up of Spanish style lampposts in downtown area (try to look for those green lamp posts in the streets leading to Cathedral, Parian, Colon, and Sto. Nino)

2.) Beautification/rehabilitation of Magellan's Cross Park (before, there was a road that went straight into this landmark, now it is a park).

3.) Beatification/rehabilitation of Plaza Hamabar (near Cathedral)

4.) Colon street obelisk;


I hope nga madayon nang Boardwalk project sa Mandaue City. We really need to beautify our place para managhan ang mga tourists... actually daghan kaayo mga plans nga wala nadayon ambot nganu kaha... For example, there was a plan to copy the transport system in Brazil. This involves the putting up of "elevated capsules" para dili magpataka ug sakay/kanaog ang mga pasahero... this would involve replacing the jeepneys with buses that can only be accessed with the elevated capsule... this is Tommy's project, ambot wa naman ko kadungog ani....
