the Moro Issue is more than just giving away land. it is more than the interest of the Philippine State versus the Bangsamoro, more than the conflicting interest between the Christians and Muslims in Mindanao, more than an issue of sovereignty.

it is a problem that has compounded itself over time due to ill-advised solutions and lack of attention, evolving tough tentacles gripping the South in so many different levels that its no longer feasible to find a linear "cause and effect" to the entire quandary.

this is not a mere issue of granting more autonomy, or even full sovereignty. us onlookers should put this in mind before we, yet again, do some knee-jerk condemnations and such.

we did it before. we are hopelessly doing it again.

advocating peaceful solution ( no guns and bullets ) and equal rights to all people of mindanao is the only alternative ang feasible solution in this war turn island.

If the MILF insist of total autonomy or possibly a Bangsa Moro State ... then its better we put bullets on there head ..

amingb: you are right. peace is the only solution to resolve this conflict, unless we are prepared to commit genocide.

sad to say there is no peace in this situation. The MILF group will never give up unless they get ARMM as a state itself. They will do whatever it takes, hence the wars and bloodshed in Mindanao. Maybe it is even right to describe that these are warlords. They will try to get what is "rightfully theirs", or they will die trying.

So the second option nga a bullet to their heads is the only solution, they also want it that way.

Years when bata pa ko, my grandfather told me all this stories about them. When they were still called MNLF at that time. He described how warfreaks these people are.
