what dallas is accomplishing right now is somewhat similar to what detroit did last year.... they lost in the finals in the previous year and was tearing up the regular season... everybody was projecting that they would win almost 70.... but then, they folded up in the playoffs.
im not saying that dallas will fade in the playoffs like last year's pistons, it's just that you can never discount teams with a lot of big bodies, like Miami with Shaq, Zo and Udonis, and also, Detroit with C-webb, Dyess, Sheed and their support - Davis, Mohammed & Maxiell. When playoff comes, and games have a tendency to grind to a halt, expect the team with the more dominant bigs to succeed. (Of course not to mention, these two Eastern clubs have excellent backcourts, especially if Wade is able to come back)
And also, let's not forget, either the Suns or the Mavs still have to hurdle the Spurs.
The game between Det and Pho somehow had a playoff feel, where the game was deliberately slowed down by det. Det continually pounded it inside, alternating between their three bigs. Det totally dictated the pace of the game, holding the Suns to an uncharacteristic 83 points- 27 pts below their average.
On top of it, Steve Nash doesnt play a lick of defense - Flip Murray's eyes light up everytime he sees Nash in front of him.
While the top western teams are pretty to look at, the top eastern teams somehow get the job done. "Bulok" as the east maybe overall, they've won two of the last 3 championships, actually.
Well, let's see how the Det-Dal game will play out.
