    Kenjutsu

    Main article: Kenjutsu
Kenjutsu (剣術:けんじゅつ?) literally means "the art/science of the sword". Although the term has been used as a general term to refer to swordsmanship as a whole, in modern times, kenjutsu is more often used to refer to the specific aspect of swordsmanship dealing with partnered sword training. It is the oldest form of training, and at its simplest level, consists of two partners with swords drawn, practicing combat drills. Historically practiced with wooden katana (bokken), this most often consists of pre-determined forms, called kata, or sometimes called kumitachi, and similar to the partner drills practiced in kendo. Among advanced students, kenjutsu training may also include increasing degrees of freestyle practice.

    Peace to all.

My opinion as to what is the most dangerous martial arts...I still opt for Krav Maga simply because it is proven time and time again by the Israeli army not just in their training camps but in actual combat and counter terrorist activities in their "not-so-peaceful" regions.

Ninjutsu and other "weapons bearing martial arts" are also deadly enough as proven by HISTORY (no argument here), but nowadays these type of martial arts are rarely proven in actual combat mainly due to these factors:
    1. There are laws against carrying deadly weapons in public.
    2. Lack of willing opponents. (of course! only a fool would DIRECTLY confront a Weapons Master already with weapons on hand)
    3. TRUE Martial arts practitioners would rather back off in a fight as much as possible.

But it does not mean that practitioner of these arts are not deadly by itself if FORCED into a situation by which no rules or law suits will follow no matter what the consequences may be.

Here in the Philippines, particularly in Cebu the Yaw Yan and/or other Kick boxers or other non-weapons bearing Martial Artist have the ingeniously privilege of proving it's efficiency and effectivity simply because most street fights here utilize only small bladed weapons or none at all...(but nowadays it's already changing 'coz a lot of illegal unlicensed firearms are constantly used). and YAW YAN has the ironic infamy of proving itself in the (sports) ring as well as in the streets. (don't ask me why amidst all the martial arts practitioners here in Cebu, the Yaw Yans are at the top most in street brawls.)....and yet, it does not mean that they are deadlier than the other forms of martial arts...maybe it is just that some of them lack discipline and indiscriminately used their skills in the streets...Bhwahahahahahaha....ONLY a JOKE OK? ONLY a JOKE..

    Peace to all.

    Default Self Defense and Sports

Originally all Martial Arts in the world designed for self defense and that it only evolved into a sport especially in the beginning of 20th century. This specially when the end of World War era and that practitioner wants to try their masterpiece and decided to compete into each other. Thus the result, it limits the brutality and it become more appealing in the general audience.
Today we can easily determine if one discipline is a Self Defense or a Competitive Sports of Martial Arts. And this two both holds an positive and negative aspect.

    Self Defense Discipline
positive - It encourage brutality as and expression to survive in actual situation.
This focus on Mastery Movements or repetition of certain defensive maneuver or technique to become a self Reflex Action and that this result into an empty mind execution (walay pag huna-huna). Reflex action are often done in our daily activities but in which we hasn't realized its potential application for self defense. One good example is when we are brushing our teeth or eating using spoon and fork, we wonder how come had manage to do this things even we are blind folded or not paying any attention at all. Thus we had master this because of years of training and the repetition of this movements.
Non aggressive, tend to avoid conflict.

negative - As I observe, most technique are design Against for thugs or less knowledgeable assailant. So what if the robber had the same skills as Pacman or Royce Gracie?
Tend to do counter attack or the Intercepting Concept of Bruce Lee. The question if you can guess which side will land or thrown. Left or Right, Upside or Downside, Center Stab or Slashes. Its a only a question?

    The Sports base discipline

Positive - Offensive Approach "unsa paman imo e depensa if tulog na ang imo kontra? so unhan nalang."
A great motivator for young to go into martial arts. This help the youngters to develop the skills early. With proper guidance, it keep them busy, develop self esteem and promotes healthy lifestyle. This will refrain them from illegal activities.
More experience in a real fight even if we say its a competition. More knowledgeable psychological aspect of the action.
Design for a knowledgeable opponent thus it Practice only what is applicable, so they limit the mastery's and instead focus on body conditioning.
Knows what is real from fantasy.

Negative - tend to control the blow and apply less brutality. thus, sometimes put them in great danger.
    Aggressive.
