The DND did have small arms manufacturing capability before, remember ELISCO? The current director of the Government Arsenal is strongly pushing for a revival of that capability. The old Elisco plant is still there inside GA, bud sadly many of the machinery is no longer there or inoperable due to neglect.

from what i understand. It is more costly to build(maintenance and limited sales) than to import arms.

DND is reacquiring the capability to locally manufacture AR15 now that the patent already expired... they will supply AFP and PNP

The previous version of the M110, the KAC SR-25 is already in use by the Light Reaction Battalion of the Army in limited numbers. While the Americans intend to replace the M24 with the M110, The PMC developed the MSSR to complement the existing 7.62 platforms in use.

as discussed on the other fauna... the reason why MSSR is built due the experience that minimum engagement are closer and not long range... there is already and existing accurized M14 within the corp... im pretty much aware about the SR-25... but it is still based by the original design of stoner which is AR10... ive asked this on that fauna before why not AR10?

DND to buy P979-M coast watch system

"MANILA, Philippines - The Department of National Defense (DND) will acquire coast watch system equipment worth P979 million to secure the government's energy projects.
In a bid bulletin, DND said the project would involve the supply and delivery of coast watch requirements, boats, firearms and ammunition, oil takedown equipment, and night vision devices."

"DND Undersecretary Fernando Manalo said the project would also involve radars and sensors, which will form part of a command and control communications system."

from what was discussed on the defense forum.. this will be installed "somewhere" to protect our WPS
for clarification.. these are not the defense radars that PAF is planning to acquire along with our FA-50PH jets
