This is false. In many countries, even adjusting for cost of living, the average worker does earn more than they do here.

The Philippines has a lot of potential. A lot of potential to succeed, but also a lot more potential to fail. Hopefully it will be the former, but more likely because of the quality of governance in the long term it will probably be the latter. The present exuberance in the international community for the Philippines won't last long, once they realize that our government is all talk and no action. Soon they will come to understand that corruption is still as rampant as ever, red tape is still everywhere, labor laws are still bad for business and then we will again be left by the side to watch while more countries leapfrog over us. I hate to be pessimist, but I've seen too much of how our government is run and so I know where we are going...

    naa ra na sa diskarte..

true, lot of potential to succeed and also lot of potential to fail.. this is what makes philippines a beauty..

its not bout the corruption / people / culture.. its about identifyng a niche (market) and knowing how to thrive on such environments.
(ayaw lang jud apil2x ana corruption.. di na healthy)

there are many kinds of people.. there are those who seek stability/security and there are those who profit on unpredictability.

if you want more, then dont be average. improve your skills so that you may deliver better goods and services to your fellow filipinoes, which in turn would greatly improve your economic prospects.

though we cannot deny that there are some industries and line-of-work here right now that are very much at a dis-advantage.. still, even advanced countries have their problems (ex. US real estate prob and Debt prob)

I'll only leave Cebu when I ran out of options or reasons to stay.

Right now, I am contemplating of leaving but I can't leave my Dad
just yet... I can't forgive myself pod if something happens to him
    and I'm miles away

Eventually, I will... maybe I'll find my destiny out there ^.^

In many parts of the U.S., including large cities, the crime rate is in fact lower than in MM or even Cebu.

But this is beside the point. Even if there was more crime in the U.S., people would still be willing to put up with it as long as they are more financially secure.
My apologies if you got offended on what i said, but i'm not deleting it coz i don't find anything racist or any stereotyping at all. And i don't need to live in the states to know the situation there. I have friends and family members who live there almost their entire lives and they share my opinion. Many of my classmates who happens to be there share the same sentiment, that if given a chance, they would rather let their kids continue their education here in the Philippines. Ang akong barkada kulbaan na siya karon all of his 3 kids are girls and are growing up. Lahi ra gyud didto bai mas liberated sila.

Wa man ko gasulti or nagpahiwatig that random killings are out-of-control problem. Sakto ka grabeh ka isolated na nga cases that even President Obama didn't even notice it. It's not even shown on primetime news. The NRA doesn't know about it. It's so isolated that Congress is even ignoring it.. Wa nako nakita ang concerns sa mga Americans online about ana nga problem.

Cebu, being the alternate capital city of the Philippines or shall we say the second largest city, is safer than at least 20 cities in the US.

its racist to generalize about a whole country. the entire us is not a ghetto where your friends and relatives live. i question your stats that we are safer than 20 cities in the u.s. wheres your evidence? even if you're right, they have 100s of cities that are same size of cebu. also, since your relatives or friends are still in the us i assume that even with the so called crime rate they still prefer to live there than in our country yea

also we were talking about drive by shootings not random psycho killer mass shootings which by the way also happens here. way to go off topic bro..

regarding premarital ***/promiscuity.. do you know any young people here? your views seem outdated...

I see where you are coming from about these false pretense. But take it from someone who has seen both sides of the coin... Drug-use is more rampant in the Philippines, promiscuity is about the same in both settings--mas daghan paman tingali kog kaila sa Pilipinas nga naay kabit2x. You are right though, there is a degree of being liberated among teens in the U.S., but the Philippines is quickly catching up PER CAPITA. And I'll even throw this out there, many of my friends are either white or black. You know how we Filipinos are? We are very good with exaggerations and embellishments, mao siguro maka-ingon tag mga in-ani.

But concerning aning "mas liberated sa U.S.", I had similar reservations before, but after seeing it first-hand, I conclude that Filipinos are quick to emulate what Western media presents themselves as--that sexuality should be very open, and to engage in *** is no longer sacred. Not to sound chauvinistic or anything, but there are about the same amount of American women, AND Filipino women who are sexually aggressive.

The only way you can prevent, like say for your daughter to not get knocked up by some ***hole is if you, as a parent, prepared them to be focused of what is important (like education, or just the drive for success) and to keep guiding them, irregardless if you are in the Philippines or not. To simply blame it on whatever type of society they are exposed to while growing up is just plain irresponsible.
