i would like to share too.
it will always depend on your dog

with my experience i bought a very expensive brand of dogfood around 200 per kilo!. and fed it to my dog. thinking that it would be great. my dog suffered from pudding poop for a week! her stomach cant process it well even the change of diet is integrated slowly. but my other dog is fine with it but my wallet isn't.

i also tried feeding my doxie a cheap dogfood BOWOW and almost killed him. why? no matter how much he eats he is losing weight. and looks like the amount he eats only turned into poop. it only proves that the ingredients used are pure garbage and fillers. almost nothing gets absorbed into the body.

anything in between should be ok. not too cheap that you risk the health of your dog. and not too expensive that could bankrupt you everytime you feed your dog.

low-end dogfoods usually use "fillers" that have really no use to dogs; they also use grains and other cheap sources of carbs but unfortunately are mostly known allergens; cheap ones also have numerous testimonies of having caused organ failure (try to google "bow-wow dogfood" and you'll understand what i mean).

i think what nutley here is saying - when faced with a choice of having to feed better quality premium dogfood against a lower qty one, it is best to go for the premium one. it'll save you monetary cost and will also spare your dog with possible physical problems later on.

okay get the point. I was not aware of the dog food rating till last week. I never imagined hill's science diet and eukanuba has onlt 1 star rating. thats what we used like 20 years ago till now.

does anybody encountered problems like shorter lifespans when feeding your dogs low quality dogfood? most of the dogs we kept only have an average lifespan of 8-9 years and thats with regular vet check ups, feeding with the dogfood mentioned, regular walking, etc. I sure envy those dogs in the us that lived like 14 years.....
