tanang arts dangerous.. hehehe
Well said manhattan1 Most people nowadays would always rely on the tool (guns, knives, etc.), but they forget that the one who holds the tool is more important (the person). Some people train themselves specific disciplines for a very long time, mastering their art close to perfection both mentally, physically (& spiritually).
IMO, The real danger is not on the martial art, but its in the practitioner.
kung fu (drunken style)
everyday martial arts, sinumbagay na naay botelya og mag dala og knife, kong mahimo mag dala pa og bato pang dok dok. matial arts is in all of us -- in the way of the late bruce lee - use what ever resources that you can find and skill that you can do basta life na ang nakataya on the line
every body can kick can punch can use any weapon that you can find.
punch me and I will punch u back -- kick me and I will kick you back -- kill me and I will defend for my life
matal arts is a product of human survival, a product of human will to live and survive, to defend for what is right, and that all goes to all living things. PEACE

maybe the author of this thread should have re-phrase his title..
suggestion:
what is the best martial arts that will equip me or help from real world scenario?
eg:
street fight
you vs. holdaper
you vs. snatcher
you vs. istambay (cge hingi2)
you vs. adik2 or rugby boys
I think the reason for the tittle is a lack of understanding that there is no one answer, since we are all different people and seek different things in our styles....
Now when that is said of course its also different what will work best for us, for some it might be Wing Tsun, Wing Chun and for others it might be FMA/Eskrima, the answer is as different as we are people.....
I think you as a student just got to make up your mind, do you want sports or self defence? and afterwards try out some different styles within that area to get to know what you like, what instructor you like and in general what suits you bests.....Then focus on that.....
Sincerly yours,
Jan Jensen
