I can't blame you for your stance friend. But honestly given the history of davao and the whole of the philippines for that matter the region has been unstable for more than a century. In the north there were raids from pirates while in the south there was also penetration and insurgents from the neighboring islands. Even up to this point there still has never been a clear sign that these national security issues will subside.

If you compare it to nations that have become a national security problem, you will see that it is difficult if not impossible to maintain a decent and working police force. Davao knows what will happen if the situation deteriorates. We both know that there are still rebels and communists and other insurgents in the island of mindanao and some of their cells are actually close if not inside davao.

This policy of killing criminals is a good deterrent from preventing these crazy elements. Also on a related note, have a look at this and say to yourself 'There is peace because I will it.'

"Manila: Ships used in transporting mineral ore are being used to smuggle into the country weapons used by communist rebels a report said.
According to a report published by the Philippines-based Security Matters Magazine, the communist insurgent New Peoples Army (NPA) have received large quantities of AK-47 type assault rifles from abroad."
