UMTS or Universal Mobile Telecommunications System which is a 3G STANDARD

CDMA 2000 is also 3G
Japan has their own 3G or even 4G
Korean has their own 3G derived from CDMA
China has plans for their own standards....

Please do your homework well.......

PROCESSORS is the most IMPORTANT COMPONENT in a PC/MAC..... so APPLE choose INTEL because they had the CHANCE to WORK ON it FIRST... and THEY made the right CHOICE.... instead of USING the POWER PC.....

REMEMBER APPLE was FIRST to use CORE DUO....... NOT a PC....

Again AS LONG AS the STANDARDS are not YET AGREED UPON..... APPLe will NOT INVEST..............

even JAPAN uses it! yes JAPAN uses UMTS! same as Europe, Middle East, and most parts of the world including the PHILIPPINES and GSM is the most widely accepted 2G standard with easy update to gprs(2.5G),edge(2.75), etc.
whats this talk bout CDMA...CDMA is no were near GSM nor is CDMA2000 to the widely acceptance of UMTS!
CDMA2000 has different variants(families) like CDMA2000 1x, CDMA2000 1xEV-DO, and CDMA2000 1xEV-DV and is an update to CDMA...NOT GSM.
its GSM and UMTS thats THE MOST WIDELY USED NETWORKS with UMTS 4G update by 3GPP LTE in the works.

EDGE is the standard adapted by iphone!
EDGE is the 2.75G update from the 2G GSM system!
iphone is a quadband GSM phone!
iphone is not CDMA...why consider CDMA 3G...duh...

WiMAX is not even 3G! WiMAX is already considered 4G.
but @ 10 Mbps at 10 km, its not very well impremented as HSOPA (update path for UMTS) is expected to be in the 100Mbps range.

i remember in a study conducted by Visant Strategies published in Wireless Week last year that by 2010 wimax will have extimates of 7.2million users.
while UMTS will have over 2billion users by 2010.

WiMAX may be in testing phase on locations around the world but networks with GSM and UMTS will not abandon their system. Logically they will upgrade thru the easiest most cost effective path around which is the 3GPP LTE.

UMTS 3G is already an agreed upon, implimented STANDARD after EDGE!!! UMTS 4G update by the 3GPP LTE is not far away...
HSDPA (3.5G) which is currenty used by 64 networks all over the world is part of the Evolution of UMTS. LTE is the Long Term Evolution which means assured future support!
next UMTS update after HSDPA will be HSUPA then HSOPA @100Mbps speeds with simple and cost effective Evolution path for UMTS networks.
if apple is joining the GSM bandwagon with iphone, adopting 2.5G and 2.75G of its system in iphone, isnt it safe to consider it will be joining the UMTS bandwagon as well coz its the easiest path for GSM technology. most logical is to follow the LTE since APPLE already got on board...diba?! think about that!

apple didnt choose intel after branging bout powerpc's better performance and then switch voices in the end because they got the chance to work on it 1st.
MAC OS is based on an opensource OS thats already intel compatible...no reason for MACOS not to run on intel chips if they wanted it to...

its coz IBM had lots of chip delivery problems and wasnt pushing on updating chips APPLE wanted. IBM was more intrested in powerpc chips for servers, supercomputers and high volume profitability chips like game consoles for MS, sony, & nintendo.
so apple had no choice but to shop some place else.

So please don't give me RAM, harddisk, motherboard....


APPLE was the FIRS TO USE INTER CORE Processor.... not the PC....

clearly APPLE knows where to PUT THEIR MONEY.....

and THEY know 3G is so MESSED up.............. They will STICK to GSM up until the 3G dust Settles.....
