I wasn't a big fan of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss in the beginning when they announced the cast. But she really won me over. She practically carried the whole movie. Gale was a non entity, Peeta was likable enough but J. Lawrence sheer performance might have trumped Josh Hutchersons. There were some highlights from the supporting mainly Haymitch, Effie and Cinna. But all in all this was J. Lawrence's movie. There was also rumors that they were gonna up the love triangle in the movie. I was so glad they didn't. This ain't Twilight!!!

    Spoiler!
Rue's death, the three finger salute and the riot in District 11 was really powerful and moving. I just wish Katniss and Rue had more scenes together. The Peeta/Katniss bread scene was really weak. I wish they had expound on it a little bit more. It would have explained Katniss loyalty to Peeta and give them both a bit more background together. Speaking of background, I was bummed Madge wasn't in the movie. I also had an issue with Peeta's leg. He was suppose to loose it. I also wanted to see Katniss pounding on the glass as Peeta was going off to surgery. Then there were the mutts and their eyes.

But those are just me nitpicking, having read the book. They did do a good job of keeping what's important to the story arc and would move the story forward and cut the ones that you would hardly miss.

It definitely was a good movie, like blur said the movie was that close to the book in portrayal except for the few minor details that was written in the book. Surprisingly, i hardly noticed those details nga wala cya. Siguro limtanon lang gyud ko hahah. The movie stood alone on its own and delivered a story worth watching.
