You should not be proud to be a Filipino if the reason you are saying that is because of the achievement of the individual. You should be proud to be a Filipino if you achieve something as a whole.

Do not say “I am proud to be a Filipino” everytime Manny Pacquiao, Charice, Lea Salonga do something noteable because those are their accomplishments and not yours.

Ang akong nabantayan nato'ng mga pinoy noh, proud ra kaayo ta sa atong race, to the point nga ma racist na hinuon na. Feeling nato mga superior na kaayo ta sa ubang taw/race. Sample lang ha, diri lang ani nga thread daan, naay niingon nga "maayo gyud ta manarbaho mga pinoy, kumpara sa uban." "mga hardworking gyud kaayo tang mga Pinoy"... I mean isn't it sad, that we have to constantly remind ourselves how "great" and "wonderful" we are as Filipinos? I'm not saying it is wrong; just quite pathetic.

I think it's a sign of insecurity. Kay "finally", mas na recognize na ta in the world stage tungod ni Pacquiao, Charice, Arnel Pineda, etc. Finally, "nanimaho" na ang Pilipinas. So yeah, feeling pud nato maayo na kaayo ta kaysa sa uban. Mao siguro hilig kaayo ta musakay sa achievements sa ubang taw.
