Di lang nako patulan imo pahangin. Typical mana of someone with your job.

Basta I know my credit card agents don't deal with people like you. Di daw mo mamayad ug UTANG. Kinda makes me wonder how many decades it took you to pay for your bling.
Bitaw bro...dili sila mo dawat ug credit application if agent kah... Kuha rah unta ug netbook worth 26K... Tiguman bitaw ug 3months...paksit noun sa cash... Nagtuo mana sila hug nga dili maka bayad ang agent...hahaha...

being an outsourcing star is kinda bad and is not good news (IMO),

-what if mangpull-out ang mga clients or kaning mga companyha then i balhin ug laing lugar na mas barato, example is China? daghan jd taw mawagtangan ug trabaho.

-What if mo improve ang economy sa Pilipinas then mosaka ang value sa peso against dollar? chances are some clients and companies will move thier operations to other language.

Exactly my point bro. As a link i have posted earlier. IF quality of life improves in the phils. what happens to the so called 100k filipinos who threw away their future in call centers?

Ako bai dili ni ingon speculative ning ako. I have dozens - literally dozens - of friends who are nurses, engineers, even programmers who went into call centers. Where are they now? Call centers gihapon. No hospital or contractor or IT company would hire you because of your call center background. Yes, it pays you more but most of the people here don't think that with a little sacrifice unta (work for a low salary in an IT, hospital, factory for a couple of years) it will go a long way. Inig abroad nimo, your 2yrs worth of relevant experience is worth more than a decade in a call center.

Maskin parente nako bai di na makasulod sa same job nako ron (although for the past few years I have been trying to convince him to work in my company). Now he's too old and under experienced to work with us. Once you're in you're never going out.

Wala sa nanghambog bai but I will tell you with all honesty na 2x ang sweldo sa akong parente in a call center compared to mine. Sa sige nako gain experience bai, sos, sa usa ka kinsenas nako bai bali hapit 3 ka buwan sweldo nila. See? That's a lesson to be learned here.

Sure, naa gani ko kaila ron CA and even managed to put himself abroad (singapore), iya sweldo same ra sa ako and AKO ang naa sa pinas ha! He didn't even factor in the cost of living there. 1/3 ana iya sweldo sa rent lang daan. Ako? 1/20th. That even doesn't make a sound decision. I still hope that someday makakita siya better job.

It breaks my heart to see scenarios like this. We keep digging ourselves into graves with this kind of job.

I am pushing for the improvement of the quality of life for Filipinos AS A WHOLE. Not encourage this kind of job as a "short term" solution to a long term problem (unemployment).

I think dili fully responsible ang government ana, kita biya ang amo sa ato kaugalingon. Ako masulti is that for every negative naay positive, change of perspective lang. And be creative. And you are just focusing sa employment, what about entrepreneurship? Albeit mas dako maka tabang ang pagpahmo nimong entrepreneur because 1.) kay dili naman ka mo compete sa uban nag need og employment so -1 na sa mga un employed 2.) kung maka hire ka ug at least 1 employee then that makes -2 sa unemployment number all in all. therefore if the government should nurture and educate us about entrepreneurship then win win scenario jud. Ang atoan scenario ron murag katong gitawag sa America ug "Gold rush", daghan town ni boom ug ni turok sa mapa, pero after sometime nahimong ghosttown. Im just saying na kaning opportunity na BPO, grab on the opportunity but dont rely on it. Dapat i dungan sad ang ubang industries ug develop para dili jud solely nag rely ana sector, ma kimpang nya kung naay mahitabo.
    Just my two cents

Mao na ang gi encourage sa mga negosyante ron like Gokongwei and Henry Sy. Be an entrepreneur because only entrepreneurs can provide specialty services and provide MORE JOBS for fellow Filipinos.

    I agree with tokidoki said.

I am a business administration student and I, MYSELF, prefer and choose to build my own business up someday in the future.

but for now, since GFC (global financial crisis) is taking its toll on each and everyones life (like me trying to find money for personal urgent purposes) i'd rather find a TEMPORARY job for me to earn and save money.

we don't really need to say things that we think would discourage other people's perception about what they're doing. we're here to ENLIGHTEN those who are walking through dark paths. not to back-mouth some BIG company's existence because, basically, THEY'RE also businessmen making business. let's just respect some peoples practicality and not over-generalize the idea of being an agent.

and please, this thread is not posted just to impress everybody about CEBU being an outsourcing star, but also to imply an idea about the city being an attractive view for investors.

when we read the title of the thread, we can easily think about the contact center industry booming, which is obviously supported by details. but what the emotion it expresses tells us about Cebu, being eyed by several foreign businessmen and investors. a sign of growing economy despite the GFC we're facing.

sakto brad sacrifice lang jud gamay for future gains, but i cannot blame those who are in call centers maybe they need the money now than later. my point would be if you are in a call center, don't stay there for good, make it a stepping stone for something better, because there is always someone cheaper and better.
