But saying sorry just doesn't cut it. It is not enough. 1.4 million Filipino lives wasted & all U say is sorry? There can never be peace w/out justice! And U haven't learned from ur mistakes either...in fact, u have almost perfected d art of torture over the years in the interest of propagating d AmeriKKKan brand of "freedom" & "democracy". That is just crazy -demoCRAZY!
The water cure in the Filipino-AmeriKan war applied to Katipuneros...and then evolved into this...
torture of "insurgents" right after WW2.....and then Iraq & Afghanistan
...then at Gitmo
...and the irony of it all is that the US is a signatory to the UN Convention Against Torture.
Don't let 70 yrs. of Hollywood & commercial TV escapist programming numbed & cloud your intellect. Ask d hard questions & sharpened ur discerning skills. Educate urself!
There is a huge imbalance of power right now. The United States is a ridiculously powerful country, with embassies, naval/air bases in nearly all continents. Their naval power and its ability to project power anywhere in the world is virtually unchallengeable. They may lose a few 'wars', such as Iraq and Afghanistan, but they will remain a very powerful country for the next 100 years.
What I'm saying is yes, it is silly and absolutely impossible to try to contradict the U.S. right now. You're either with them or against them.

@Jerry Michael ... sorry isn't enough? What do you expect? Do you still blame the Italians for what the Romans have done? Do you blame the Japanese for what they have done in WW2? Do you blame China for what they have done? Do you blame yourself for what Filipinos have done to their own people? Do you blame the Mongolians for what Ghenghis Khan did? History is filled with mistakes from everyone including you and your own people.
I for one am NOT SORRY for something I have not done. I am not sorry for killing Indians. I am NOT sorry for slavery. I have done neither. Arguments that implies long gone history somehow affects the decisions of the present is rubbish and only takes away the blame for your own mistakes in the present. All you will get from anyone is an apology for what they didn't even do. I personally don't believe you or anyone is owed an apology for the mistakes made by human nature ... which at the time they thought was the right thing to do. What would you have done in their place? It is easy to criticize morality of years past when you are sitting in your comfortable chair typing away.

The bush administration falsified documents and misled the American people about torture and its legality and effectiveness. Under the Obama administration there will be no torture. And there is serious talk about prosecuting those involved in torture during the Bush years.
You don't have a clue to as to the big picture here. Go ahead and believe that the US is the only superpower who is concerned with where they will get the oil they need to survive in the future. You think that the US is making a monetary profit from the Iraq invasion? Wait til the next decade and see how tough things will get if (when) the oil sources dry up and it becomes dangerously scarce. Will the oil producing countries be kind and charitable with us? Boost production and cut prices? Get real. But what does the USA's role in Iraq have to do with the American Military in the RP? They are training and equipping YOUR military to help them better protect YOU. If they are not welcome by the majority of your countrymen, then they shouldn't be wasting their time here. The RP can choose who they align with in the future. It doesn't have to be the USA. See if there's a better offer out there, dude. Let's see... who would you ask to help your military out?
As long as there is warfare of any kind, there will be aggressive tactics in place for securing information. The use of techniques like "waterboarding" are for eliciting information from a reluctant source. It is not to be done in malice, for recreation or for entertainment. The approved purpose is solely to gain information. The US military isn't using waterboarding here in the RP, are they? Are they torturing the soldiers or the people of the RP during their stay here? Their role is that of trainer, not interrogator. And we'll see how the Obama administration ultimately deals with interrogation procedures after he's been in office a few years and grows up.
we are no U.S. Territory .. mao nga dili sila angayan manghilabot nato .. ug wala tay gahum nga moimbitar nila nga manghilabot sa atuang nasud .. bisan gani ang presidente sa pilipinas dili niya mahimo kay against our sovereignty and constitutions..
