@crashburn: Asus is the best, intel is the bomb? --

When we used to be AMD fan boys hahahaha
@petJDM: I think what he meant is the way the distro handles their RMA's. Yes naa gyud RMA tanan, thats what warranty is for, but its the turnover time pag ma guba that kinda takes awhile. Kasuway sad ko before, RMA within the same year,it took a couple of months Unlike my experience with Gigabyte Distro, in a weeks time a new replacement came in.

As for me, no question, asus has great boards, im using the P5B deluxe lang gihapon. But I dont think gigabyte papaldi pud, like I said earlier, these are the two giants competing in taiwan karun, with MSI slightly trailing behind them.

Basic needs, they are all the same. No gains in performance for ordinary use.
Overclocking, there are so many factors involved that its really hard to pin point if its the board or the the proc, mem, PSU, Cooling etc.. And with the way procs are designed nowadays, almost any board can OC them Skillz nalang gyud hahahaha.

It all boils down to personal preference and (bragging rights??)

Kung bling gyud, I love DFI My DFI lanparty Nf4 SLI-DR rocks with all the bling. UV reactive slots, cables, cable wraps, lanparty bag, frontpanelX etc.. Overclocked my Athlon 3200+ to 3.5ghz with that board. Fried my mems after two years though hahahahaha.

As for me Asus can get you that last 100-200Mhz more ON extreme cooling, but on regular air/water cooling asus is no better than gigabyte/DFI/Abit.

When you want the best that money can buy, consider AsuS ROG on top of your list. Most of them follow AsuS's innovations and designs, anyway. For versatility of BIOS and ease of use, AsuS. For other esoteric and most often than not obscure BIOS settings, other brands have it. There are even some BIOS features you'll never touch on an AsuS board.

Other brands have some other manufacture for them, like Sapphire manufactures for this and that brand, ECS this and that brand, etc.

AsuS generally manufactures their ROG line from their own factory. The components are pre-approved by AsuS's ROG standards. Well other brands also do that, but AsuS ROG is more stringent. Sure there are RMA's. RMA's are a subjective case-to-case basis, "your mileage may vary."

No one buys a Mercedes Benz or a Ferrari just because of the name and the looks. Likewise, no one buys an AsuS ROG motherboard for the same reasons. Of course, it never hurt th have the looks and the name. It is a plus in the bling and brand name recognition factor.
