if u want dedicated attack helicopter..

    thats only be APACHE..

we dont need that here. what we need is an all around workhorse.. and thats the UH60 BLACKHAWK

just add the POD KIT to missionalize it..and then it ready for the job..

    example.

maritime interdiction..just AS15 TT Dauphin + RADAR Dome ..then u have a 15km range antiship helicopter + search and rescue copter

Army Airborne Corp Attack Copter + Transport:

just add the Minigun + Hydra Rocket + 4 HellFires + MANual Flare and Auto Flare dispenser.

Cobra is hands down the better attack platform. But if the PAF wants some it can only afford a handful. The MG520 is handicapped by its lack of payload, avionics and armament. But... it's cheap and very good at what it was designed to do, i.e. an observation helicopter with light armament. How about the attack version of the Sokol?

The United States' 160th SOAR is putting its own AH-6 Little Birds (a close relative to the MG520) to good use, but of course if the SpecOps troops need anything heavier they have the luxury of calling on other air assets.

Transitioning to a new type isn't all that expensive or difficult. Manufacturers always include pilot and mechanics' training in the purchase price.

As for the engines, a lot of operators (including our local airlines) now take advantage of "power by the hour" lease schemes offered by engine manufacturers. The operator simply leases the engines and pays for actual usage. If the engine goes kaput, the manufacturer takes it back and replaces it. No need to set up and maintain an in-house overhaul capability.
hmmm... "Power By the Hour" sounds interesting, well see what PAF guys from another thread thinks about this....

i suggest we should stop from calling it as FLYING COFFIN, it is very demoralizing to our PAF personel, yes, they dont like calling it, most of the PAF who calls that are the one in desk job...

our PAF already have plans in phases, it's just that COIN capability is more important!

even in CoIn operations, the PAF is not well equipped. they deserved something better. plans? The PAF have plans years and years ago and yet it remained as plans. it's about time to do something concrete. until then, they will still fly those old aircraft or flying coffins.

obviously you are not familiar with the AFP Modernization, in modernization the three branches of AFP take turns in their respective modernization, and right now is scheduled for PAF that's why naka acquired silag bag-o nga mga helicopter from Poland...

getting a plane is not like buying cellphone, you should consider the operational cost of that plane, since you said wala man kaha sila maayo nga COIN can you cite one and post also the operation cost?
