You can never go wrong if you follow the course of nature....
Last October 6, over lunch at Grand Majestic courtesy of Anvil Publication (with pnoize2k4, Archie Modequillo, Bien Fernandez, Gwenn of Anvil and documentary filmmaker Stella Enriquez Kelly) we had a good discussion on what is independent filmmaking and/or what makes one an indie.
It was agreed that, in the context of Hollywood filmmaking, it is that filmmaking effort out of the studio system. The source of funding was also explored and we came to the observation that the source of funding independent filmmaking principally originates from the filmmakers themselves. Similarly, the use of certain equipment was also explored, such as the use of Panavision 16:9 monster vis-a-vis the Arriflex BL.
But, over all, we all seemed to be speaking in one voice in the romanticism that "indies are those with very little money but have a lot of creative control over their films."
It seems in our talk that "indies, in the context of Cebu filmmaking, are those who try to crank out movies/films without the support of Big Foot Entertainment and the Channels."
Etc.
yep, yep.
wow
MrBiddle,
If you can be at Bo's/Ayala this morning at 10:00 A.M., I am inviting you to sit down with me and the producers of Sunseed Films for a pre-production conference.
I plan to bring you into "Tolongtong", a digital production of Sunseed Films for celluloid 35mm release. For sure you can do something in this production that will enhance your passion and readiness to do movies. Even just do enjoy a quick vacation in Singapore where a 45-second fine cut dream sequence will be shot (no CGI here or Green-backing). Or interact with Engr. Manny Maranga (one of the producers), this digital video chief of ABS-CBN.
There.
Kewl... ninduta ta ani uyy....
SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FILM GROUPS!
Be a producer... you don't need to put up cash! (though if offered, it will be greatly appreciated). There are other ways you could help produce a local film...
Do you have a special skill like costume design? Cosmetics and hair styles? Do you have a house with a personality? Own a beach resort? A curious hobby to share? Have cute little puppies? have a dance troupe? A parking lot? A car? A Humvee? Some old appliances? A computer? Old family videos? Old halloween costumes? Unique art pieces? An unused warehouse? A cafe? Chairs? Food?! Children?!
There are a thousand and one ways you could be a part of the local filmmaking scene not as an actor or a crew member... but as a producer and see your name in the credits!

Hey... ya, after seeing some homemade short clips, it's really interesting to be a part of such films... I'm still developing my talent in sampling some shots and editing it.. maybe i can help in the future...
Is Sinebuano still the group to approach if i wish to join film enthusiasts?
Thanks..
