Festival Dance contest on April 4
BACOLOD City — A total of 23 local government units will compete in the Best of Festival Dance Competition during the 2011 Panaad sa Negros Festival on April 4, right after the opening ceremony at the Panaad Stadium, Brgy. Mansilingan here.
The participating towns and cities and their respective festivals are:
* Cauayan – Lubay-Lubay Festival
* DS Benedicto – Kali-kalihan Festival
* Ilog – Kisi-kisi Festival
* San Enrique – Bulang-Bulang Festival
* Moises Padilla – Magayon Festival
* Talisay City – Minuluan Festival
* Hinobaan – Pagbanaag Festival
* Candoni – Pabalhas sa Tablas
* San Carlos City – Pintaflores Festival
* Murcia – Tinabuay Festival
* La Carlota City – Pasalamat Festival
* Pulupandan – Salapan Festival
* Calatrava – Lilas Pandan Festival
* Kabankalan City – Sinulog Festival
* Sagay City – Sinigayan Festival
* Escalante City – Manlambus Festival
* Bago City – Babaylan Festival
* Valladolid – Pasundayag Festival
* Toboso – Sag-ahan Festival
* EB Magalona – Ugyunan Festival
* Isabela – Kalag-Kalag Festival
* La Castellana – Bailes de Luces, and
* Manapla – Manang Pula Festival.
According to the event coordinator, Rudy Reveche, the concept or theme for costume and performance of the participants must depict the uniqueness of their locality/festival.
The performing group must have a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 50 members.
It may also use canned or live music suitable to the concept of the theme of their presentation, he said.
He added that only appropriate hand props should be used for the performance, and huge/massive structures or use of pyrotechnics and slaughtering of live animals are not allowed.
The criteria for judging include choreography (30 percent), performance (30 percent), theme/concept (20 percent), costume (10 percent), music (five percent) and props (five percent).
The first prize winner will receive P70,000 cash and trophy; second prize, P50,000 cash and trophy; and third prize, P30,000 cash and trophy./PN
