Airport prepares for ASEAN Summit
Adelberto Yap, general manager of the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) and head of the airport committee for the ASEAN Summit preparations, said renovations to the Cebu airport are now underway, with the airport management allocating P300 million for a "facelift" of the airport terminal.
Their airport committee's share of the P1.3 billion that the government is allocating for the summit would be spent on developing the old Philippine Air Force property that the MCIA now owns, which would be turned into a parking area for the aircraft of foreign delegates, Yap said.
"We are expecting some 18 Airbuses and Boeing 747s to arrive and park at the MCIA," Yap said.
A lounge would also be developed at the airport that could accommodate the visiting heads of state while they make transactions at the terminal.

it's official!..Dec. 11-14 has been declared holiday
-------------------------------------------------------------
Tomas gets 4-day holiday in December
Three cities will get a four-day holiday in December this year, while Cebu hosts the ministers’ summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).
Proclamation 1032 declares Dec. 11, 12, 13 and 14 as special non-working days in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu. Dated March 10, the proclamation is signed by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita and Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Joaquin Lagonera.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of these cities be given full opportunity to participate in this important event,” the proclamation said.
Sun.Star Cebu received a fax copy of the proclamation from the office of Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano, who was among the first to be informed by Malacañang’s records office.
Concern for the security of foreign delegates has prodded Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña to push for non-working holidays during the four-day summit, which starts on a Monday.
His view is that an extended break would encourage people to go out-of-town and allow Metro Cebu’s authorities to focus on securing the summit’s delegates and venue.
Certain leaders of the business community, however, have warned the holiday would be counter-productive.

OT:
Aside from the Asean Summit, Mandaue would also host the PBA goodwill games with Dennis Rodman and other NBA Players....
Asa man duwaon nga korte ang PBA goodwill games sa mandaue?
Yup sa Mandaue pero I don't know kung ila ba i expand or i improve ang basketball court kay ni request man ang taga PBA nga pabutangan ug cushion ang hardcourt.
