I think it's mostly the traditional people who see na "working in a call center is not a job"
They would think na, to get a "real" job, you have to be a college graduate to be hired.

Pero karn na mga call center mo dawat na ug high school graduate, mo samot na cla ug think na dli "job" ang call center.

I think it's a job. I just hope people don't quit school to work as an agent.

being in a call center is a job alright... but not all call center gives you the security of tenure that most stable jobs offer you.

Per Se, I have been in a call center for 8 years also and I know for the fact that most call center jobs are co-terminus with the account you are in.. Well, if your lucky you can be transferred to other accounts... some gets floated or just asked to be resigned nalang.. (paets)

Between working on the likes of a company like San Miguel, PLDT or SHELL (bigwig companie), my dad worked his hard part off and got a retirement pay when he retired at age 65...

Question is... Would the call center give you the security of tenure, retirement pay when your about to go to that age
your dad is lucky that he was able to work in those bigwig companie as you say. but those bigwig companies are not that good these days. my father worked too in san miguel for 17yrs. during that time, their pay was one of the highest but now, i got a college schoolmate that works there, his pay is only half of what i earn now even though he already worked in san miguel for more than 10yrs. he has lots of debts and could only get his payslip during paydays. and its not that stable anymore like before. i also got a friend who worked in a division in san miguel that do packaging products. but a few years ago, their entire division was shutdown and all of the employees in the division were paid.

"nag call center ra ka? sayang!!" i think kani nga line para sa mga aspiring ones nga wala nakapasar sa interview. lol giingnan ko ani sa akong kaila once. I replied "yes! pero imong sweldo wa katunga sa akoa, kompleto rikados sa mga benefits, incentives, freebies, og uban pa". A month after nakit-an naku siya ng apply pasangil wala nakakita naku, oh well! wala siya nakapasar lage..Hahahaha
