A battle between Lin-ay Sg Negros and MassKara Queen
REIGNING Lin-ay sg Negros 2006 Jan Nicole Puentevella and newly crowned MassKara Queen 2006 Angelique Robles will compete in the search for Miss Western Visayas Tourism to be held Saturday night at the WVSU Cultural Center, Lapaz, Iloilo City.
Puentevella who will represent the Province of Negros Occidental was crowned Lin-ay Sg Negros last April at the Panaad Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
Masskara Queen 2006 Angelique Robles, on the other hand, was crowned last October 16 at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum. She will represent Bacolod City.

Puentevella wins Miss WV Tourism crown
REIGNING Lin-ay Sang Negros Jan Nicole Puentevella earned another title when she was crowned the new Miss Western Visayas Tourism held in Iloilo City last night.
While, newly-crowned MassKara Queen Angelique Robles, emerged second runner-up.
Puentevella also bagged special awards like Best in Talent, Darling of the Press, Miss Popularity, and Best in Public Speaking.
Completing her court are first runner-up Ladylyn Riva (Ati-atihan Festival of Aklan), third runner-up Ariane Argañosa (Sinadya sa Halaran of Capiz), and fourth runner-up Myrianne Bagaporo (Binirayan of Antique).
For other special awards, Bagaporo also carted away two minor awards such as Miss Board Walk and Miss Sunsilk. Robles was named Miss Ponds.
Miss Dinagyang Jane Barrios, on the other hand, won Miss Friendship and named Miss Kabayan.
Riva also harvested the Best in Festival Costume, Miss Photogenic, Best in Swimsuit awards. She was also adjudged Miss Close-up.
Other contenders include Sherlene May Lauron (Manggahan Festival of Guimaras), Rizzley Anne Gruedzinski (Paraw Regatta of Iloilo City), Kyute Estrellas (Carabao-Carroza of Pavia, Iloilo), Charmaine Gail Nuñez (Pintados de Passi of Passi City) and Ma. Ledi Hani Loot (Binanog Festival of Lambunao, Iloilo).

Bacolod next year host for Tourism Assembly
ILOILO CITY -- Tourism Undersecretary Oscar Palabyab disclosed that Bacolod City will host the next Western Visayas Tourism Assembly.
The five-day activity featured the six provinces of the region including Negros Occidental, Bacolod, Iloilo City, the Province of Iloilo, Capiz, Guimaras, Antique and Aklan.
Palabyab said the assembly will give tourists the opportunity to witness the regions' different festivals in just one location.
He said this is the first tourism assembly organized by tourism sectors in the region.
Palabyab said they have conducted the same assembly in Intramuros, Manila; Bicol Region, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, and Cordillera Region.
Meanwhile, Provincial Tourism Officer Jennylind Cordero and Bacolod City Tourism Officer Imogene Kana-an believe that Negros Occidental and Bacolod City are ready to host the event.
Cordero, in a separate interview, said the city has plenty of hotels that can accommodate participants from Western Visayas even the whole Central Philippines.
Kana-an said the SM City in Bacolod, among other establishments, will also entice visitors.
She said that 60 percent of the visitors comes from the Central Philippines and 38 percent from Western Visayas.

The colorful and energetic dancers from Barangay Alijis, Bacolod, delighted the audience in Friday's Parade of Festivals held in Iloilo City at the Freedom Park.
Councilor Homer Bais, chairperson of the committee on tourism, led Bacolod's delegation of the famous MassKara Festival in the parade.
Also performed were Dinagyang and Paraw Regatta of Iloilo City, Tinu-om of Cabatuan, Pandayan of Badiangan, Saad of Leganes, Lanot of Janiuay, Cry of
Jelicuon of New Lucena, Kahilwayan of Sta. Barbara, Pakuyang sa Tangyan of Igbaras, Banaag of Anilao, and Pintados of Passi City.
Negros Occidental is presenting three of its major festivals, which include the MassKara Festival of Bacolod, Panaad sang Negros, Bago City's El Cinco de Noviembre and Babaylan.
Aklan's pride was represented by the world-famous Ati-Atihan of Kalibo and Bariw of Nabas. The Province of Antique had performed two of its festivals -- Binirayan and Pahinis of Laua-an.
The provinces of Capiz and Guimaras displayed its Sinadya sa Halaran and Manggahan.
Meanwhile, the 10 candidates for the Miss Western Visayas Tourism also joined the parade including Lin-ay sg Negros 2006 Jan Nicole Puentevella and newly crowned MassKara Queen 2006 Angelique Robles.

I really miss my other hometown Bacolod City. So what's the update there in Bacolod??
