    HOW TO IDENTIFY COLORS:

    WHITE-BELLIED COLORS

Although the term "White-Bellied” is commonly used to refer to a species of hedgehog, the IHA also recognizes it as a separate color category from that of the Algerian colors. A hedgehog exhibiting the color traits of a White-Bellied may or may not exhibit the physical traits. (Smaller body, shorter nose and smaller ears than that of the Algerian) Since the two species have been interbred to produce the domestic hedgehog, the only true trait of the White-Bellied species left is the color as this does not mix with the colors of the Algerian species.
White-Bellied colored hedgehogs can be easily distinguished by looking at the "eye" or "cheek" patches. If the hedgehog has no cheek patches, or if they are very small, consisting of black hairs, then the hedgehog in question is in the White-Bellied color range. If the mask is strong and golden-brown or orange, then the hedgehog is in the Algerian range. This is a far more accurate means of identification than the older method of looking for white quills, rather than the "cream" or off-white colored quills of the Algerian-colored hedgehog.

    ALGERIAN COLOURS

Although the term "Algerian'' is commonly used to refer to a species of hedgehog, the IHA also recognizes it as a separate color category from that of the White-Bellied colors. A hedgehog exhibiting the color traits of an Algerian may or may not exhibit the physical traits. (larger body, longer nose and larger ears) Since the two species have been interbred to produce the domestic hedgehog, the only true trait of the Algerian species left is the color as this does not mix with the colors of the White-Bellied species.

Algerian colored hedgehogs can be easily distinguished by looking at the "eye" or "cheek" patches as shown on the picture. If the hedgehog has cheek patches, then the hedgehog in question is in the Algerian color range. If it does not, then the hedgehog is in the White-Bellied range. This is a far more accurate means of identification than the older method of looking for "cream" or off-white colored quills, rather than the white quills of the White-Bellied species.

    SNOWFLAKE COLORS

The Snowflake category comprises those animals that possess a fairly even mix of banded and non-banded quills. This gives the hedgehog the appearance of having a light "snowflake'' dusting over its back. This pattern can appear in both White-Bellied and Algerian colors.
    There are a total of 28 Snowflake colors—14 White-Bellied and 14 Algerian.

    WHITE COLORS

The White category comprises those animals that possess almost 100% solid white quills. The few banded quills that these hedgehogs have are localized to the forehead area, with a few possible across the remainder of the back. These few banded quills on the back, however, should count no more than 10. There is a total of 22 White colors—11 White-Bellied and 11 Algerian.

Yup research gyud, then familiarization sa color difference. For me, regarding apricot, akong basihan kay the red eyes then the color itself is unique it is like a pale orange with some yellow hue.

Here's a good example of a Pale Apricot...

Notice the side quills (the most saturated colors) if puros ingon ana ang color almost all of their quills it is an Apricot just like the pic below.

We've seen the "Grey" but what we don't know is the difference between the Grey and Darker Grey, please refer to this link and check the comment from Seansia and Zerobyte... Philippine Pet Finder • View topic - latios95 Hedgehog MYHERD

Therefore I conclude, if it looks like a Salt and Pepper but the quills are not "Jet Black" that is the Dark Grey.^^
