Best solusyon ani kay wla nay foto kontes. hehe..
or i ban ang mga spectators hehehehehe.
murag sa fuente O ang gi basihan sa report, how about sa other area, naa ba nag reklamo nga mga expectator?
my opinion...
the main purpose of the photo contest is to document what happens in the festival within the carousel, to capture the drama and highlight of the festivity. if you are to hire professionals to do it for you it would cost you a lot.
so they created the contest. looked for sponsors to shoulder the prices and then impose registrations for the formalities and of course the rules.
then there you go.... instant marketing materials for free.
for us enthusiasts, it maybe a harsh reality.
but then we joined, we knew the risks involved, still we joined.
we may have different reasons for joining some wanted to win the coveted price, some just wanted to experienced what it takes to shoot that kind of event, some joined just for the heck of it.. and for some for the love of the craft..we may say yes there should an iron hand imposing rules and regulate what was going on but with little man power and personal interests intervening during the preparations, we should know how hard it would be to pursue these things.
for the old timers, they knew what to do and what would happen. and the braced themselves and not let these things bully them around.
for the first timers who were expecting that its just a walk in the park, WE WERE WRONG. its war out there. only if we could look in the brighter side, we are not that unfortunate we are one of the priviledged actually, because we haved afforded the luxury to experience the event first hand face to face, while others just watch on sides hoping to get a better angle.
sinulog has been here for 30 years now, and every year complaints arises but hey it is what it is..
and right now i am already anticipating the next year! im definitely gonna be back... come rain come shine.
peace peps...
I've been shooting the Sinulog for 5 years now and crowd control always is a problem. It seems that more people turn out to watch the parade after lunch, so about 2pm or so, people start going inside the ropes. Either for lack of energy, or because there's just too many people, the crowds just can't be pushed back.
I suppose this could be a reason for the complaints of photogs blocking the view. Not only are the crowds thicker, there are more photographers now, and the reduced open space unwittingly (wittingly?) forces photogs to go nearer the action, instead of maintaining a reasonable distance. Because the Sinulog attracts more and more people every year, I don't know if the "problem" can ever be fixed - the bigger the crowd gets, the lesser the space for everyone involved.
nag lagot lang na reporter pod sa kadaghan sa photographer sa fuente O. unsaon nimo gud pag accomodate sa kadaghan ron nag pa register (2,000 plus) nga mga photographer puro mag tipok sa fuente O dapit. hehehe
