yes, most of the hospitals now have been trying to utilized electronic medical records na gyud. recent decades ra man pod ni nila ug wa magdungan tnan state to adopt to this ky needed man ni ug taas budget and for sure per hospital/facility need pod ni labi na sa acute field.
Sinai Hospital is using CERNER MILLENIUM and i forgot John's Hopkins has their own software too. we as nurses liked it coz it helps us reduce time in accessing, encoding at the medical record compared to handwriting. but a portion of which they need to organized further is the progressive note taking na dili standardized ang format. so some of the medical records like the progress notes of Doctors and RNs are in a separate sheet pa. however, wa nay binders na samok kau sa units makit-an. which is nice!
from carrying out MD orders, med signing, I/Os, initial data base etc...are all in the electronic chart na! one can access the patient chart once admitted even wa pa sa imo floor! however, this is not encourage much due to their Privacy law/HIPPA policy by the govt.
m wishing gyud ky wa nako mahuman ako Masters ky ni sibat man ko sa way oras ug wa gani kapananghid i really wanted to have my masters back but m thinking of NI now, its just that it is too hard to study while u have no family to help u with and ur PTworker too dri sa abroad! haayy...mao naka ask ko kung naa ba ta distant learning na sa atoa or eMSN or eMasters na pwede ma aquire lang. ty sa info ha.
@ vienzel:
tinuod kaabot jud ko sa computerized documentation...pag-abot nako sa USA--paper-based documentation pa to..then later nag transition dayun into computerized documentation..naka-feel jud ko unsa ka dakong tabang ni dia ang computerized documentation.
o yah, pag abot nako sa 2003 ky ky paper pa mi adto ug pilot units pa ang gi-sugdan then ga ka increase na daun as the year go by. ako husband na lang ron na bilin sa Sinai and sige pa daw gihapon ug upgrade. ky gi by staging man nila from doctors to RN trainings and other health team worker pod. it is of great help.
if only naa lang ko pinas i can own my time...gusto ko participate ani para kita maka pioneer sa pag established. bisan simple system lang unta na based sa culture sa nursing practice nato sa pinas! not necessary na US based tanan. maybe ang courses should be tantamount para versatile ang dating bisan asa ka lagpot!

Definition: Nursing informatics is a specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge in nursing practice. (ANA, 2001)
For the time being, no university in the Philippines is offering a MSN major in Nursing Informatics. From what I have known, UMAB (University of Maryland in Baltimore) has the best Nursing Informatics as Masters degree and costs around 4500USD-5000USD.
ANCC, American Nurses Credentialing Center, offers the exclusive certification exams. Requirements are posted on their website.
Currently, the BON implemented the new BSN curriculum who has Nursing Informatics as an integrated subject into the course. Based on their test framework for the Nurse Licensure Exam, NI will be 7%-10%.
