The owner still has responsibilities in raising the pup regardless of the dam and its condition and personality if there is such one . Specially sa feeding time where crucial jud kaayo ni siya as seen and experienced by people I know unless na lang cguro kung ang puppies are in the numbers of about 2 or 3 lang sila kabuok in a litter where they are very well fed .

Other than that , I dont see anything out of the dam becoming a " bad mom " .

im curious to know the stats on that "some dogs are just bad moms" theory to be able to conclude that there indeed are born "just bad moms"...

coz if you ask me, its either the dam is not yet prepared to have a litter and/or the owner rushing things up by breeding her without gaps. thats my take.

hmmm maybe she was bred early or not . or it was her 1st litter regardless of age.
i know if u are unfortunate enough to be un this situation u have to bottle feed each pup every 2 hours for 2 weeks if im not mistaken.

there was also this 1 thread i came across . that while giving birth the sire was allowed to go near the puppies and was able to lick the placentas off the puppies. the dam refused to take care of the puppies cuz it had the scent of the sire ^^
the owners wer forced to raise the puppies thru bottle feeding ^^
lesson learned . separate the 2 while the other 1 is giving birth ^^

kanang breeding with out gaps bai. louya sad sa dog ana woe dmd. i also heard gani nga after giving birth epa "habal dyn ug balik para ma sundan" these 4 me are just people being *****s. well any who ako for 1 never experienced man sad having "bad moms" i just need ur inputs on this topic ^^

its because i cant think of any reason, at this moment, for a generalization and conclusion "that there just bad moms"....

i also refer to your example above (addressed to mod spring)... that situation (where the sire licked the newly born pups) where the dam did not take care her pups, is not entirely the fault of the dam, imo. its human error.

WHat I meant was to maximized the puppies milk intake because if daghan kaayo sila sa litter and the dam has only so much nipples who can accomodate , ang uban walay gatas na for themselves specially if slow pa gyud because ang normal gyud maka una kay ang mga strong pups .

The issue of breeding early or not is not the real issue to tackle but being the A litter if kaya ba sa dam mo function as a raising mother . Hands on gihapon ang owners / handlers in raising the pups maski naa ang dam .

mau lage sa.^^ i would rather have 3-4 puppies lng rather than getting 8-12 ka puppies hahahaha if only kta lng maka bout ^^

yeah ako migo sad na ka produce cya ug 12 puppies at once 4 died. like 1 ra ang himos ka ayo, then the others medyo thin but not sickly

This is what I emphasized when I said "If bitches become "bad moms," I am sure it goes back to their owner who did not raise, TRAIN and socialize them well."

Why not try it and see the difference? ^_^

TRAINING does not refer only to "sit, down, stay, etc." It includes everything you want to shape the attitude of your dog exactly the way you want it to be. There can be no "bad mom" bitch if you are a responsible owner.
