    Got it? BTW, Merry Christmas!

there are many factors that affect price variation of goods and services, and one of 'em is the forex rate. The major factor that affects price variation is inflation rate. The "supply and demand" factor also affects price variation. More supplies, cheaper prices... high demands, higher prices (just like oil). So don't expect that everything is supposed to follow. We should be thankful that the peso is strong against the dollar because if not, we could be suffering more.

Just imagine if the exhange rate today is still at 55 level.
Oil today is around $90/barrel, 90x55= P4950/barrel, whooaaa, this really is a big amount.
And it's not a problem for oil players coz they'll just pass the burden to consumers.
You expect that prices could have gone so much higher for logistics of goods consumes a lot of energy..
Now compare it to today's 41 pesos to the dollar, 90x41= P3690/barrel, hmmm, that's a lot of difference.

Ha ha ha. As if we are not suffering worse than the peso at 55 level. As I have maintained, the prices are higher now as compared when the peso is at 55/USD level and then thats the time that you look for something else to blame why it is so.

In the end, it boils down that the lower forex did not make any improvement in the lives of people except for the rather abstract proposition that it lowered the payment of our foreign debts. Thats too far out to make a connection to ordinary Filipinos. Besides most of the borrowing were lost to corruption than filtering down to the grassroots.

if you talk about equating peso to dollar, i think it's off. mao bitaw naay exchange rate kay di gyud ma equate. (in economic parlance). if ang imong pasabot i-equate o i-relate o i-parehas sa dolyares...its another topic.

wen u hisgot naman with currency performance- the rise and fall of a currency or its consistency or the way a currency stands amidst the crisis...you may have a point. however, what does a currency performance indicate?
pls paki-answer. i want to hear it from you kay it seems you know it well.
Currency performance: 1 way of doing it is making a graphical illustration of our peso against the US dollar exchange rate from a previous time until the present, say, 2006 up to 2007, AND THEN COMPARING THE DATA AGAINST OTHER ASIAN CURRENCIES. That's how our peso got the no. 1 spot as "best performing currency in asia".

The strong peso is not only seeing the exchange rate vs USD at hand but based on data from previous records up to the present and then comparing it to other asian currencies...

It is wrong to say that we have the strongest currency in asia because our peso is now at 41 to the dollar... The most correct way to say is that, we have the best performing currency in asia this year based on records...

    @balatucan

asa man ka ana erap time 99$ a barrel? imo na binuhat-buhat bro arun majustify imong stand?
    unsa imo basis?

klaro man ang graph gprovide ni giddyboy!

And sir nobody is saying nga we are not suffering, but if the dollar is much stronger it is clear we will be suffering more.

unsa man d i imong negosyo sir nga mura man dikit sa dollar imong profitability? i bet dinagko gyud tingali na, exporter ka sir? o naay support from abroad? kay kung ing-ana, klaro nga you would want the dollar to go up and that it has nothing to do at all with worldwide price of crude oil.
