I was on work yesterday so I can't watch the hearing. But listening to Miriam's speech on youtube today gave me a thought.

Since mo-insist man gyud ning 20 senators na not declaring a dollar account is punishable by HUMILIATION because FCDU don't mean crap, how about now that revising the laws revolving the SALN, that public officials should declare them, but not foreign companies investing in the country. Miriam's sentiments there was completely valid. If the laws revolving around the SALN remains to be like this up to the next impeachments, then we will have more law-bending/breaking things like this.

Remember, if the FCDU is to be completely dropped by the Philippines just because of a political vendetta, foreign companies would withdraw their investments here in the country.

Kung ako foreign investor here in the country, I would abandon any investments here in the country. Kay what if makiha ko then multinational akong company? Kelangan diay gyud nako i-declare tanang naa sa akong company even if its on Europe or in US? Screw that thing.

    question lang:
do foreigners require to file SALN? isnt it for public officials/employees only?

Bro, if you have listened to Miriam's speech, she points out that it also covers foreign investors but not foreigners that aren't paying any tax here in the country, according to your wording of "foreigner". And if you may have read the older topics here in this subforum, BIR has been requesting EVERYBODY, not only foreign companies to submit their SALN.

As I am also working on a foreign company here in Cebu who is onto a start-up also on registering our company in SEC, we have also been requested to list our company assets and liabilities (a few computers, a few printers).

But again, I am not a lawyer. Let me look that up.

Bay, whether with Brenda or not, the law with the SALN needs revising. Please see my last paragraph of the post you quoted.

FCDU applying to foreign investors only. That way wa gyuy lusot kada politiko na motago ug dollar account.

Nasangit lang gyud si Corona sa techinicality sa law. Kung gi-declare ni Corona ang iyang dollary-doos, unsay problema diba?

Why do we praise politicians that encourage dishonesty just because it is prevalent in the government and we judge does who did right according to the law as self serving? Is reprimand enough? If a frustrated murder is committed is reprimand enough? Is it enough for the accused to correct his mistake?

If his jury is made up of murderers as well is it right that they find him not guilty just because they too are guilty, but they are not to judge base on their own act or what they think is moral but base on what is the law and what is suppose to be right.

FDCU is applicable only to banks and not depositors. Depositors have right to divulge them or not, but BANKS cannot give any information on them. It was a wrong move on Corona to give such defense. He is a lawyer. Like Dean Agabin said there is no conflict between the SALN law ang the Foreign Currency Law, because the latter is applicable only to banks and not the depositors.

Besides foreign investors are not mandated to file SALN.
