bossing please don't oversimplify what happened in the 70's.. i'm not that old but i grew up being a witness on how many of my older relatives experience the harsh realities of the martial law.

OT-I was born after People Power, so I have no idea what happened during Marcos' era. But being the inquisitive type, virtually all older folk I've asked, outside and inside my family, say that it wasn't as bad as what modern textbooks made it out to be. In fact, all of them agree that there was relative peace, even my dad who is from the deep south. And my kin is not of the politically-affiliated type, nor influential.

I'm not saying the martial law was good, but it is not as bad as what our post-PP media and education system has made it out to be. That's my own conviction. You have to keep in mind, history is written by the victors.
