Usa nako nga student is BB BJJ diri sa Hong Kong unya poro lang hambog kay he thought he can take anyone IN THE RING big or small and no matter what system that is... I tried once his abilities unya gamit nako ang street awarness nga akong nahibaloan diha sa Cebu sa una... pinoy style nga dumog... hugaw pa sa tanang hugaw in terms of fighting... the mindset is not about fighting - it's about how to survive... ok, dayun diha na mi sa ring he's quick to draw me on the floor - but before that, I grab his head turned upside down... he then cried it's foul... ? foul? abi nako sukol siya ug any kind of system... second, he grab my left hand and wrist.... before he can floor me down, I stomped on his right foot and slap his back - really hard with my right hand... he then cried out it's foul again.... Na! mao na hinoon ning kalaki... thought some BJJs are can bully other MA... ok... the third time... he tried to grab my waist... but I put my right elbow on the back of his neck.... pinned him down b4 he pins me down... he said it's foul again. Ana diay nang BJJ techniques? I don't have enough knowledge sa grappling or BJJ but I gained enough understanding how to fight as street fighter... akong teacher? Streets of Cebu City...

theres a big difference sa bjj that is used for sports, as the bjj that can be used for the streets, naa ko trainer sa una nga former IDF (israeli defense force), he taught me krav maga, its not the style daw that applies, its how you can bring about defending yourself, imagine daw nimo mag patrol sila sa mga iskinita kay some places sa palestine, digyot kau ang mga korner, then when your cuaght unaware kaliton lang kag dungab sa mga palistino, uban pa daw kay mga bata pa kau, the thing is its how readily available the things you know are up for your needs, when he has gun, why does he need to grapple, when he has a knife why does he need to punch, when youve nothing else well run if possible, "self defense" - means saving yourself even if it means running, but if yor caught in a corner then hell yeah let it all break lose, military mentality daw is if you are certain of dying in the battlefield make your you do your country a favor and bring some with you.

peace mga bro, by the way even krav maga's knife fighting is partially taken from our own kali.

@Sinyalan: If i'm not mistaken the highest ranking BJJ practioner in hong kong is thomas fan and he's a purple belt... you can actually look up his rank in onthemat.com.. now there is a possibility he is a black belt in jiujitsu just not brazilian jiujitsu... there are very few asians and the pinoys have if im not mistaken the second largest asian community of brazilian jiujitsu balckbelts namely, alvin aguilar, mike vives, myles vives, john ouano, dan inosanto, a one or just two moer that i know of... if you noticed that is a very very small number... as of what i know, there is no cantonese man based in hong kong who has gained the level of a black belt... Real BJJ practioners never perach that grappling is all you need to survive instead we preach that it has to be one of the arts needed... he's porbbly just talking... but he's not a blackbelt... the blackbelts i know of and that ive met... don't cry foul to thigns they dont know... they dont get to where you are if all you do is cry foul.. on average guys go through 10-15 years before achieving the rank of black belt in BJJ... not an easy feat if you whine a lot..

    normster25,

Wala nako kita niya sukad he failed 3 times sa among friendly sparring 6 months ago... not much of his background basta lang he said BB siya sa BJJ... maybe he was that hambog mao nga na-try nako iyang pagka-hambog... I know the highest ranking BJJ in HK - na raise lang akong kilay sa iyahang pagkahambog. Although being a pinoy in a chinese place isn't a picnic in the park mao nga tanang mangutana sa system nako would end up testing your abilities... basta lang I made my heritage defended. Not all BJJs are that bad ug hambog mao nga most MAs I met dont brag (I hope I'm not...). Apan salamat sa info - I don't know Dan Inosanto is a BJJ black belt... thought iyahang expertise is JKD and Inosanto Kali Blend.

Dan is a balckbelt in a number of martial arts including karate... thats how he started his relationship with bruce lee, when they met in a karate competition and he asked to be bruce lee's student... He got his BJJ black belt from jean jacques macahado, cousins of the sila royce..
