We should judge presidents like we judge CEO's of a company... ang pangutana kay was the country better off after their term than when they started financially? Usually it takes several years for the programs of a president to show up. Another criteria is whether the president was able to strengthen/weaken our institutions.

In short, karon pa lang nag sugod ang effects sa programs ni PNOY so para nako dili pa ta angay mu judge kay wa pa mahuman iya term and daghan pa pwede mahitabo. Kanang iyang CCT/Pantawid pamilya program... wala ta kahibaw if effective ba gyud na' or usik usik lang sa kwarta. Mao pay pag tanum sa liso.. tanawn pa nato if mu bunga ba..

And to those nga fans kaayo ni Marcos, look at what state he left the country in AFTER his term. Intawn until now ga bayad pa ta sa utang ni Marcos through our taxes . Any growth/infra projects/ progress he made at the time was the expense of loans which future generations would be left to pay.

he was forced to step down by the US... unsaon paman niya pagbyad?... kanang utang normal ra na... pag mention og country nga walay utang mostly naa man gyud utang.... we are paying taxes, ngano gud ug dili na mabayran? aside from that our country has many assets & minerals. Our current debt is 5T= trillion peso, then ang national budget next year is 2.4 Trillion... Maypa bayaran nlng nang utanga aron wa na tay utang.... of course that budget needs to be spent for development kay ang mubalik income man ghapon... nga mao ra puy ibayad sa ato utang... during marcos times, walay pork barrel... mao ng dghan nacontribute c marcos sa ato nasud...

If he was doing so well, ngano gipa step-down man siya sa iyang #1 ally? We all know how close the Reagans were to the Marcoses...

Kanang mga sapatos ni Imelda plus all the riches nga ilang nakawat part sad ba na' sa utang nga ilang bayran?

Yes, debt is normal to a certain extent. Even the U.S. has debts pero look what happened sa ilang economy tungod sa debt.

If u understand basic accounting, debt is normal pero up to a certain level. A company, or in this case country's financial health is measured by how its current assets can cover for its outstanding liabilities and clearly dili kaya sa atong country mu cover dayon sa mga utang sauna. To this day, we are still suffering the effects of the marcos regime financially.. this along with damage to our institutions, political system (lack of two-party/ideology based system) and current culture of corruption.

You can try and sell Marcos to everyone here pero to those whose families have undergone the hardships during his time, di gyud mi makalimot sa kapait ug kahadlok sa mga panahon sauna. To the young ones I suggest you dig deeper sa history and ask those who actually lived through this period in our history. (we are talking about Martial Law era here... I would want to make a distinction between Marcos' first term and the succeeding ones thesame way one would Arroyo's first and second term. (It was notable that Marcos' first term was really good and historical facts would support this).

imong gitagaan ug appreciation ang iyang mga achievements, pero wala nmo gimention kung unsa pod ang mga negative side sa iyang pagka presidente. and there so many that you've miss to mention...

Ikaw na gani mismo dili ka sigurado that I will appreciate him "maybe lang".
Walay question ang pagka brilliant ni Makoy, even Estelito Mendoza admired him but nisaway pud cya sa iyang pagka hanggaw.

Ang imong gipang compare ang mga presidente nga ni sunod niya, that is totally incomparable on the basis of the condition of the country and his term.

If someone can combine the best traits of each president, he/she would have...

    - The charisma and intellect of Marcos
    - The speaking ability and wit of Ninoy (presidente unta to kung wa gipatay)*
    - The heart of Cory Aquino
    - The professionalism and loyalty of Ramos
    - The "brains" or manipulative/scheming ability of Arroyo
    - and the Humor of Erap ü
