Police and local officials yesterday said there was no
influence-peddling that occurred in the murder case of call center
agent Lynn Vi Ebarita following the transfer of a key police officer
    in the investigation.

Chief Supt. Ronald Roderos, director of the Police Regional Office
(PRO-7), said in a news conference that there was no pressure exerted
on him by any official to remove Chief Insp. Eddie Recamara from his
post as Investigation and Detection Management Bureau (IDMB) chief.

He said he will let Senior Supt. Orlando Ualat, Mandaue City police
chief, explain his decision to transfer Recamara from his IDMB post to
head the police precinct 4 in barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City
before the Mandaue City Council next week.

Roderos, who said he would send a representative to the council's
session, told reporters that Ualat may have his reasons for
    transferring Recamara.

He said he will talk with Ualat about the case.

Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna earlier claimed that an Eastern Visayas
politician was talking with ranking police officials to effect
    Recamara's transfer.

The case was filed against Ebarita's colleague, call center agent
Jonelle Enfectana, who is the politician's goddaughter.

Three men and one woman who were reportedly with Enfectana remain at
    large.

The Enfectana family denied they were seeking assistance from
politicians to facilitate her release following her arrest last week.

The Ebarita family then sought help from Mandaue City Councilor
Diosdado Suico to facilitate the return of Recamara to the IDMB.

Roderos said Recamara's transfer covers the usual rotation for ranking
    police officials.

Ualat may have informed them on Recamara's transfer through written
reports but Rodero said they were not informed about Ualat's decision
    beforehand.

He said that despite the officer's transfer, Recamara help in the
    investigation of the case.

He said reports of influence-peddling were mere hearsay and Vice Mayor
Fortuna should provide details on the allegations so he can take action.

"(If there is evidence and basis), we will do some action or
investigation but no lead. How can we proceed with the investigation?
What we want is details…where, when and how," he said.

Roderos said he was satisfied with the Mandaue City police's
performance on the case and ordered Ualat to submit the names of the
investigators so they would be given medals on Monday.

The same trust on the Mandaue City police was shown by Mandaue City
Mayor Jonas Cortes, who said he would not tolerate any outside
political interference in the Ebarita murder case.

"Let us not be derailed on the issues. Let's just trust the police. I
want to give Ualat a free hand in the investigation, " Cortes said.

He said he was assured by Ualat that there was no pressure exerted on
the investigators not to arrest and drop the charges against Enfectana.

Cortes said he wants to hear the concerns of the Ebarita family, but
agreed with Roderos that Recamara's transfer was the usual rotation
    for police officials.

He said Recamara should not be given sole credit for the swift
resolution of the case since it was a team effort.

The other officers in the case are also with the IDMB.

"I too also want this solved. But I want to avoid issuing statements.
We should be extra-carefull in issuing statements which may derail
    issues," Cortes added.

Sources within the MCPO, who requested anonymity, said there had been
clear attempts to prevent Enfectana's arrest and the filing of charges
    against her.

"They were really told not to arrest her (Enfectana) and then they
disobeyed. Now they were also told that they should not file the case,
then they disobeyed again. That is why Recamara was transferred to
another assignment," they said. With a report from Correspondent
    Jhunnex Napallacan

okay lang man cguro bisan pa ug gi-reassigned and gi-replaced nila ang original police investigator as long as intact lang jud ang tanang ebidensya sa crime, records, witness testimonies, paperwork, etc., and as long as di sad ma-interrupted ang flow sa investigation. things can happen at any time man gud. preha ra gud cguro na ug mu-kalit lang ug ka-drop-dead of a heart attack ang imbestigador, or ang abogado, or whoever, di ba ipadayun man jud gihapon ang kaso? ang-ang diay ug e-undang or e-disrupt ang kaso tungod lang kay si so-and-so professional, for who knows what reason, nikalit lang ug kahawa sa trabaho? di ba?
