Let's get this thread moving.
Mga cooks and chefs. lets TALK about Knives.
its the most important tool only second to our hands.
what kind of knives do you have?
any tips on taking care of them. and use is always welcome.
let me start.
My first set of knives came as a set when i started studying culinary arts. an expensive set of german made knives. for years ived been using these set of knives but never have been comfortable with it. or the standard french knife. which in my opinion are handle heavy.
out of frustration i started to look for the right chef's knife. i stumbled upon the japanese chef's knife or santoku. but still it doesnt fit me. so i ended with a very expensive piece of metal that i rarely use.
the last knife i got is the chinese chef's knife or the chinese cleaver "but technically it's not a cleaver since the blade is thin and can easily break or chip". and until now ived been using it.
funny how i started with a very expensive top of the line knives and end up with a knife that only cost me less than 500 pesos.
I have a set of F.DICK knives both the EUROCUT and the METAL ones but my prized tool is a cleaver that doubles as my spatula .

I have a set of Solingen's that mom and I use ... but yes quite ironic that some of us tend to use those seasoned cheaper knives hehe
