i know but take note that the Dacer family were also the ones supplying some info.

    (1) Sabina swore that: "In his exact words Bubby said, 'mga anak, kung may mangyari sa akin, walang ibang may kakagawan noon kundi si Ping Lacson'"

    (2) Dacer's family also discovered Dacer's letter to Joseph Estrada on Panfilo Lacson's 1999 actuations to secure the PNP chief post.

i cannot even define those statements as misleading...

the fact that Michael Ray Aquino was also named in the Dacer slay case makes our suspicion more compelling.

remember, Michael Ray was also implicated in an espionage case by the US gov't. and that is already a fact and not anymore an allegation. that makes it not a detraction anymore against Ping coz that is not lying about an unknown fault.

and who is Michael Ray Aquino by the way? bata2x na ni Ping.

i get your point bro, but still these are pieces of the puzzle that you need to connect before coming up with the whole picture, and puzzles can be misleading, unless you already got the picture saying that its Ping, hope u get what I mean

based on a 2001 SWS survey:

On the accusation that Sen. Lacson amassed great wealth hidden abroad, the SWS survey found that 32% believed it, 21% did not believe it, and a plurality of 47% said that they did not know enough about it.

As usual, the ABCs or middle-to-upper classes are, relatively speaking, the most convinced about the accusations; in particular, 57% of them believe that Lacson has hidden wealth.

The SWS survey of September 1-18, 2001 had a national sample size of 1,200 adults, for an error margin of plus/minus 3% for national level proportions.

but then again, that was 2001...

    PART I

Updated March 17, 2009. Based on research by Ermin Garcia Jr.

Ang punong hitik ang bunga, siguradong pupukulin (A tree laden with fruit becomes the target of stone-throwing vandals). This native cliche has never been so true as in the case of Panfilo M. Lacson, both as law enforcer and as lawmaker. Despite his accomplishments, there have been those who have come out to peddle lies about him. Not surprisingly, many of them are those whose toes he stepped on when he was doing his job.
Following is a list of vicious lies raised against Lacson, in the guise of "issues" whose peddlers repeat over and over, in hopes of realizing yet another cliche: A lie repeated a thousand times becomes truth.

    * Linking Lacson to Cases:
    Kuratong Baleleng (1995)
    The Dacer-Corbito Case (2000)
    Narco-politics (2001)
    Dollar Deposits ... (2001)
    ... and Houses (2001)
    Killing of John Campos (2002)

    * Attacks on Lacson’s Person and Personal Life:
    Ping Lacson, Corrupt?
Ping Lacson, Funded by Drug Lords?
    Tulfo’s Lie
    Mateo’s Lie – and Retraction
    Berroya’s Lie

    * Cast of Characters:
Mary “Rosebud” Ong: Exposes or Lies Under Oath?
    Col. Victor Corpus
    Angelo “Ador” Mawanay
    Reynaldo Berroya

*** LINKING LACSON to CASES ***

    Kuratong Baleleng
LIE: "Ping Lacson ordered the 'rubout' of the Kuratong Baleleng gang members and has not been tried in any court."
TRUTH: While then C/Supt. Lacson headed Task Force Habagat and did order his men to prioritize going after the notorious gang, C/Supt. Jewel Canson, not C/Supt. Lacson, led the task force operations against the Kuratong Baleleng.

FACT: C/Supt. Jewel Canson, as chief of the PNP National Capital Region Office, was the commanding officer of the composite team tasked to go after the crime syndicates responsible for the series of bank robberies and kidnapping in Metro Manila. One of its primary targets was the notorious Kuratong Baleleng gang that robbed banks and killed innocent victims along the way. He directed the whole operation, and did not report to C/Supt. Lacson, who at the time headed the Presidential Anti-Crime Commission’s Task Force Habagat.

FACT: Canson, as task force head, owned full responsibility for the operations against KB during the Senate investigation.

FACT: Task Force Habagat (under PACC), led by C/Supt. Lacson, was only one of the four units that formed the composite team The other command units in the team were the Criminal Investigation Service (CIS, now CIDG), National Capitol Region, Central Police District (now Quezon City Police District) and the Traffic Management Command (now Highway Patrol Group).

FACT: C/Supt. Lacson was in the barracks on the night of the shootout on May 18, 1995. C/Supt. Lacson’s only direct involvement in the operations was to sign the terminal report together with the other heads of the units in the composite task force.

FACT: C/Supt. Lacson was charged before the Ombudsman as an “accessory” for signing the operations terminal report together with P/Sr. Supt. Francisco Zubia Jr. of the Traffic Management Group, C/Supt Romeo Acop of the CIS and C/Inspector Cezar Mancao II.

FACT: The Arroyo administration wanted the senator arraigned as a principal in early 2004 so he would not be allowed to post bail and prevent him from physically campaigning for the 2004 presidential elections.

FACT: In an unprecedented move, the Supreme Court reversed its own May 28, 2002 decision affirming the Court of Appeals decision - remanding simply the case back to the RTC to adduce if requirements have been complied with. Instead the SC directed the reopening of the case and, in an unprecedented move, withdrew the case from RTC Br 81 Judge Theresa Yadao.
The case was re-raffled and but was again assigned to Judge Yadao. On Nov. 12, 2003 Judge Theresa Yadao dismissed the case, still finding no probable cause to charge Senator Lacson as principal.

FACT: Contrary to the Arroyo government’s claim that the case was never reviewed and decided. The case was:
    * investigated by the Ombudsman and dismissed on October 20, 1995;
    * tried and dismissed by a Regional Trial Court, Br.88 on March 29, 1999;
    * the decision was affirmed by the Court of Appeals on August 24, 2001; and affirmed by the Supreme Court on May 28, 2002.

    ***

    The Dacer-Corbito Case (2000)
LIE: "Ping Lacson was involved in the killing of Salvador 'Bubby' Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito."
TRUTH: Senator Lacson was never named by anyone to be behind the deaths of Mr. Dacer and Mr. Corbito except in innuendoes.

FACT: Senator Lacson received a call from former Senior Supt. Cezar Mancao II, where Mancao said he was being pressured by Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Romeo Prestoza. Mancao said he was being offered reinstatement in the police force – and a promotion to boot – if he implicated Lacson.

FACT: Mr. Dacer's colleagues believe his disappearance may have had to do with a disgruntled politician who may have felt betrayed by Mr. Dacer.

FACT: Mr. Dacer was a public relations practitioner known to cater principally to politicians and government officials. Chief PNP Lacson was not one of his clients.

FACT: Chief PNP Lacson never employed a publicist throughout his professional career.

FACT: The daughter of Mr. Bubby Dacer publicly denied speculations that there ever was a heated argument between her father and President Estrada in Malacanang, disputing the claim that Erap, out of anger, ordered Chief PNP Lacson to eliminate her father.

FACT: After they were tagged as being responsible for Dacer’s death, Messrs. Aquino and Mancao left the country for security reasons after it became apparent that the Arroyo administration was out to liquidate them. Their fears on their safety were founded when S/Insp. John Campos was subsequently assassinated.

    ***

    Narco-Politics
LIE: "Ping Lacson is involved in narco-politics."
TRUTH: The narco-politics scenario was concocted by Col. Victor Corpus, Mary "Rosebud" Ong, Angelo "Ador" Mawanay and C/Supt. Reynaldo Berroya.

FACT: Corpus, then ISAFP chief, concocted the $5-billion narco-politics scenario in the country to justify the senate hearings. He used the polluted testimonies of Rosebud and “Ador” Mawanay as his sole basis for his narco-politics scenario.

FACT: No concrete evidence was ever presented by Col. Corpus, NBI Director Reynaldo Wycoco, Rosebud and Mawanay to prove their charges. Col. Corpus chose the Senate as a forum because the objective was clearly simply to discredit and demonize Senator Lacson.

FACT: The name of Senator Lacson was never listed in the "Order of Battle" issued by the Narcotics Command, as among those suspected or placed under surveillance for activities in drug trafficking.

FACT: Senator Lacson was the principal author of the Anti-Money Laundering Act to make it difficult for drug lords and other criminal syndicates to operate in the country. Senator Lacson was the lone proponent of P500,000 threshold; the other legislators proposed P2,000,000. Note that the lower the threshold, the more difficult it is to launder money without being monitored.

FACT: It was Berroya who was charged and convicted for involvement in kidnap-for-ransom of Taiwanese Jack Chou over a failed transaction on illegal drugs.

FACT: On March 24, 2003, "Ador" Mawanay recanted and admitted that all his declarations about Senator Lacson's alleged bank accounts were all fictitious. In his new affidavit, he identified First Gentleman Jose Miguel "Mike" Arroyo as the mastermind in the attempt to frame up the senator. As proof of his access to the FG, he called Mr. Arroyo on his cell phone in front of the media.

FACT: The late Sen. Robert Barbers, the head of the investigating committee, refused to file perjury charges against "Ador" Mawanay and Col. Corpus after "Ador's" recantation. To do so would have invalidated the committee report seeking to confirm the allegations.

FACT: Mr. Jeffrey Wendling of the US Drug Enforcement Agency (US-DEA) assigned to the US Embassy, cited the cooperation of Senator Lacson as PNP Chief in the war against drug syndicates. He made the testimonial on May 5, 2003 in the presence of Col. Victor Corpus, P/Dirs. Edgardo Aglipay, Reynaldo Velasco, Avelino Razon Jr., and NBI Dir. Wycoco.

FACT: The Hong Kong Police officially refuted Rosebud’s claim that 2,000 kilograms of shabu (worth $1.8 billion) were shipped from Hong Kong to Manila and that the shipment was confiscated and kept by C/Supt Lacson and P/Insp. John Campos.

FACT: Market constriction and supply reduction – these formed General Lacson's twin strategy approach to fight illegal drugs. The Arroyo government merely duplicated the strategy, which has been adopted in other countries with the endorsement of the US-Drug Enforcement Agency.

FACT: Chief PNP Lacson's unrelenting campaign versus drug trafficking resulted in the confiscation of drug shipments and the arrests of notorious alien pushers and traffickers. No shabu laboratories managed to operate under his watch. Many of these drug busts done were in collaboration with counterparts in Asia and USA.

    ***

    Dollar Deposits ...
LIE: "Ping Lacson amassed more than $700 million in bank deposits in US banks earned from drug trafficking and kidnap-for-ransom activities."
TRUTH: Corpus, Berroya, "Ador", Rosebud and Wycoco never presented any proof of these deposits from the US government or banks.

FACT: On March 24, 2003, Mawanay signed an affidavit in perpetuity admitting that the bank accounts containing "$700 million" he listed and submitted to the Senate hearing were fictitious.
FACT: Since "Ador" Mawanay recanted, Rosebud could not present any other evidence to prove that Senator Lacson deposited '$700 million" in the US or elsewhere.
FACT: The Citibank regional office in Singapore confirmed on August 9, 2001 that the bank accounts of Senator Lacson as listed by Mawanay did not exist.
FACT: The FBI officially denied that it had any knowledge of Senator Lacson's million-dollar deposits in US banks except the three bank accounts of Mrs. Alice Lacson, which Senator Lacson identified early on. The FBI said the bank accounts registered small deposits.
FACT: NBI Director Wycoco cannot produce the FBI documents which he said confirmed Senator Lacson’s drug trafficking activities and dollar bank deposits.
FACT: Senator Lacson gave Col. Corpus a special power of attorney giving him the right to access any of the bank accounts listed by Mawanay and to withdraw the deposits in those accounts. Col. Corpus never reported back to the Senate or to the media the result of his trip to the US armed with the special power of attorney.
FACT: Senator Lacson filed libel cases against Col. Corpus, Ramon Tulfo and the Philippine Daily Inquirer for the story on the alleged bank dollar accounts.
FACT: The US government, which is very strict in the enforcement of its anti-money laundering law, never issued any derogatory report about Senator Lacson. Otherwise, any unusual movement of large amount of funds in the US cannot escape detection.
FACT: Per his 2005 Statement of Assets and Liabilities, Senator Lacson’s assets total only P24,449,751. These represent value of the family’s home in BF Homes, cars and income from modest investments in restaurant, amusement and real estate businesses of friends.
FACT: Not a single one of the more than 500 rescued kidnap victims has ever accused Senator Lacson of demanding and receiving ransom. Instead, all were unanimous in praising Senator Lacson for refusing to accept financial rewards for himself and/or his men.
FACT: Ms. Robina Gokongwei, a kidnap victim rescued by then Lt. Col. Lacson in 1981, attests that her father offered him a hefty cash reward for his feat but he turned down the offer. In appreciation, the Gokongweis donated patrol cars to the PC-Metrocom instead.

    ... and Houses
LIE: "Ping Lacson owns mansions in Ayala Alabang and in the US."
TRUTH: The Lacson family never owned “mansions” in the country and in the US.

FACT: Senator Lacson's only owned family residence is situated in 25 Kirishima St., BF Homes, Paranaque. He and his family owned and lived in BF Homes in Paranaque since 1982.

FACT: The other "mansions" in the country claimed by Col. Corpus to be owned by Senator Lacson are in fact owned by other persons:
    * 280 El Grande St., BF Homes, Paranaque (owned by a Ms. Josie Rapay)
    * and Residential house in Cavite (ancestral home of Sen. Lacson’s parents).

FACT: Senator Lacson presently lives in a house in Ayala Alabang owned by Mega Star Realty Development Corporation. It is not owned by Senator Lacson. It is the company's first "build and sell" venture.

FACT: C/Supt. Lacson bought a house in California in 1996 with address at 1011 Laguna Seca Loop, Chula Vista, California when he moved his family to the USA after they were subjected to death threats at the height of the senate investigation on the Kuratong Baleleng. The house was sold on the same year when the family decided to return to the Philippines.

FACT: The FBI denied a claim by Col. Corpus and NBI Dir. Wycoco that the senator owns mansions in the USA.

FACT: The list of "mansions" in California supposedly owned by Senator Lacson, was first peddled to the local media by Col. Corpus without any proof of ownership by Senator Lacson.

FACT: A quick check with CourthouseDirect.com - Public Records Online revealed that these "mansions" are owned by different persons.
    * 2035 Sea Island Place, Chula Vista, California: The house is owned by Ernani Lacson, Ping’s younger brother, who was an officer in the US Armed Forces. Ernani and his family still live there.
    * 14300 Terra Bella Street 73, Panorama City, California: The house is owned by Ricardo G. So and Rosalinda Tiu.
    * 2252 Mountain Ridge Road, Chula Vista, California: The house is owned by Felix M. Sablan and Margarita Sablan.
    * 3500 Plaza Boulevard, National City, California: The house is owned by Sylvia D. Cruz.
    * 2295 California St., San Francisco, California: The house is owned by Friedman Trust.
    * 3530 Locust Avenue, Long Beach, California: The house is owned by Jill Petoniak.

FACT: Blanquita Pelaez, convicted of estafa in March 2003, used the same discredited information in the handcuff case vs. Senator Lacson in the US, without any proof. The US Court rejected her claim. Still, she has been freely going in and out of the country to issue statements against Senator Lacson in spite of the fact that there is an outstanding warrant of arrest for her. Curiously, even the late NBI Dir. Wycoco accompanied her at a press conference.

FACT: Pelaez in 2008 recanted her claims, executing a statement where she said she was "recruited" to take part in a smear drive against Lacson by claiming some houses in the US belonged to Lacson. Pelaez pointed to members of Philippine Military Academy Class 1978 – which adopted President Arroyo as an honorary member – in the smear drive.

    Killing of John Campos (2002)
LIE: "Ping Lacson killed P/Supt. John Campos because he knew too much and was ready to turn against him."
TRUTH: P/Insp. John Campos was like a brother to Senator Lacson.

FACT: P/Insp. Campos was a bemedaled outstanding police officer who was cited by both the RP and US governments for his integrity, accomplishments and professionalism.

FACT: Just an hour after P/Insp. Supt. Campos was assassinated at 1:30 a.m. on December 5, 2002, Rosebud went on several radio stations to "break" the news, and pointed to Senator Lacson as the mastermind.

FACT: It was convenient for Rosebud and C/Supt. Berroya to claim that P/Insp. Campos was ready to turn against Senator Lacson since dead men tell no tales.

FACT: It was P/Insp. Campos who disputed Rosebud’s allegations about Senator Lacson’s involvement in NarcGroup operations during the Senate hearings.

FACT: S/Supt. Lacson and P/Insp. Campos collaborated as principal witnesses against S/Supt. Berroya in the kidnapping of suspected Taiwanese drug lord Jack Chow. For their testimonies, Mr. Berroya was sent to jail.

FACT: It was P/Insp. Campos who revealed that Rosebud was neutralized in "Operation Cyclops" after she was found to be operating as a "double-agent" for both the government and the Chinese Triad.

FACT: Rosebud humiliated P/Insp. Campos and maligned his honor publicly during the Senate hearings. His friends and relatives denied that he ever contemplated reconciling with especially after her lies about him.

FACT: Rosebud was banned by the Campos' family during the funeral services for him. It was Senator Lacson who was welcomed.

FACT: The senator already filed a libel case against Rosebud for her false accusations.

    ***
    *** ATTACKS ON LACSON’s PERSONALITY ***

    Ping Lacson, Corrupt?
    LIE: "Ping Lacson is corrupt."
TRUTH: Senator Lacson was never charged in court for corruption, estafa and bribery throughout his entire government career.

FACT: Senator Lacson's past and present subordinates during his entire stint in the police service attest to his NO-TAKE POLICY.

FACT: Only Chief PNP Lacson succeeded in eliminating 'kotong' among policemen and stopped their illegal practice of using recovered stolen vehicles for personal use.

FACT: PNP Chief Lacson constantly raided jueteng, masiao and smuggling operations. Gov. Chavit Singson admitted this during the Estrada impeachment trial.

FACT: As commanding officer of provincial stations and Cebu Metrodiscom, he strictly imposed his “No-take” policy to the chagrin of provincial officials.

FACT: PNP Chief Lacson was haled to a US court for refusing to make the government pay the P1.8 million commission due Ms. Blanquita Pelaez for the sale of handcuffs whose terms entered into by his predecessors were grossly disadvantageous to the government. In the process, the US Court determined that Senator Lacson did not own any of the houses or bank accounts that she said existed. (When Rosebud complained to media about FG Mike Arroyo's refusal to pay her P5-million fee for her testimony against the senator, she said Ms. Pelaez reportedly collected P8 M from FG Mike Arroyo for filing the case in the US).

FACT: Media personalities, particularly Mr. Ramon Tulfo, continue to discredit Senator Lacson (in their columns and radio/TV programs) after he exposed their dealings with FG Mike Arroyo. Chief PNP Lacson, in an INQ7 interview in 2001, identified Mr. Tulfo as one of the regular beneficiaries of the monthly PNP payola receiving P250,000.

FACT: Senator Lacson is known in PNP circles as the only PNP chief who refused jueteng payola throughout his police career. This is a fact that even Ramon Tulfo grudgingly admitted in the past.

FACT: C/Supt Lacson stood as a witness against his superior officer, C/Supt. Berroya, for the latter's involvement in the kidnap-for-ransom of suspected druglord Taiwanese Jack Chou.

FACT: As a new lawmaker, Senator Lacson charged two of his own Senate staff before the Ombudsman when they violated his “No-Take Policy” in the implementation of his 2002 “pork barrel projects”. He also filed a complaint against a town mayor in Batangas, a major political supporter in the last senatorial elections, and several DPWH officials for overpricing costs of the infrastructure projects funded by the senator’s pork barrel.

FACT: After seeing for himself the evils of pork, Senator Lacson exposed the widespread corruption spawned by the pork barrel allocated annually for legislators. Since 2002, he has foregone his P200-million allocation to prove his sincerity and to help the Arroyo government reduce its budget deficit. No senator has followed his example on such a consistent basis.

FACT: Senator Lacson exposed FG Jose Miguel Arroyo as "Jose Pidal" and his associate Ms. Vicky Toh for their suspected anti-money laundering and tax evasion activities.

FACT: Lacson exposed the use of PCSO and PAGCOR funds to finance President Arroyo’s 2004 presidential campaign.

FACT: As early as 2002, Senator Lacson filed a bill in the Senate seeking to exclude government officials from the coverage of the Bank Secrecy Law, which the Arroyo brothers Mike and Iggy invoked to stonewall the Pidal investigation.

    PART II

Ping Lacson, Funded by Drug Lords?
LIE: "Ping Lacson's campaign funds for presidential/senatorial elections were provided by drug and jueteng lords."
TRUTH: Senator Lacson was and is the mortal enemy of drug lords and jueteng financiers.

FACT: Candidate Lacson’s campaign materials and funds were donated mostly by the families and businessmen whose kidnapped relatives (estimated to be more than 500 since 1972) were rescued by the senator while in the police force. Proof: His campaign poster materials and handbills though numerous and attractive, did not have uniform designs.

FACT: Since Jueteng and drug lords’ operations were seriously affected by Chief PNP Lacson’s campaign against them, they have been contributing heavily to discredit him today.

    ***

Tulfo’s Lie: “Ping Lacson murdered his wife’s first husband, Reginald Hill.”
TRUTH: Reginald Hill died in a vehicular accident.

FACT: The rumor was concocted by C/Supt. Berroya and peddled by Mr. Tulfo.

FACT: Contrary to Mr. Ramon Tulfo’s claim that Reginald Hill was run over by a military truck, he and his brother died in a vehicular accident involving a public utility bus.

FACT: Katherine Hill, sister of Reginald, wrote Phil. Daily Inquirer on August 29, 1987 to clarify that her brothers “Reggie and Robert died when their car figured in a collision with a Metro Manila Transit bus in Alabang on April 21,1978.” The family filed a case against the bus company for damages.

FACT: Katherine wrote “Reginald was never detained at MISG…” so Lt. Col. Lacson could not have possibly met and beat up Reginald inside Camp Crame.”

FACT: Alice sought an annulment of her first marriage after she discovered in early 70s that she was a victim of a bigamous marriage. She had long been separated from Reginald when she filed a petition for the annulment of their marriage.

FACT: Senator Lacson was introduced to Alice as a blind date, long after her marriage with Reginald was annulled.

    ***

Mateo’s Lie – and Retraction:"Ping Lacson murdered innocent people and his enemies"
TRUTH: In his taped retraction, Kit Mateo confessed he made up all those “murder” accounts involving Ping.

FACT: Mr. Ambet Antonio and jailed C/Supt. Berroya tricked Mr. Kit Mateo into making false public statements by promising huge sums of money and freedom at a time when he was desperate for help.

FACT: Mr. Mateo was a civilian agent attached to the MISG in the early 1970s was known personally to Lt. Col. Lacson but worked mostly with Col. Reynaldo Berroya.

FACT: Mr. Mateo was arrested, convicted and jailed with Sr. Supt. Berroya for the kidnapping of Jack Chou. He was diagnosed with cancer of the colon while in prison and had financial difficulty coping with his treatment.

FACT: His false declaration while supposedly in his “sick bed” was arranged, and ABS-CBN’s Ana Marie Puderanan was asked to record it. As an insurance against possible double-cross, however, Kit and his wife Vinia, made Ms. Puderanan sign an agreement that the interview will not be shown at anytime without their explicit approval. This was violated when Mr. Ramon Tulfo used the material in his TV program to discredit Senator Lacson.

FACT: Mrs. Vinia Mateo, Kit’s widow, said her husband felt guilty about what he had done the day after he implicated C/Supt. Lacson but felt helpless to do anything about it in the face of what was promised him. In his subsequent taped interview, Mr. Mateo asked for C/Supt. Lacson’s forgiveness.

FACT: Four weeks after making the false testimony, the promised release from prison and financial help never came. This prompted Kit to retract his false testimony. He asked for another TV reporter to record his retraction, this time, out of a hospital bed.

FACT: ON October 21, 2000, he signed an affidavit confessing the truth about his false testimony. He asked GMA-7’s Sandra Aguinaldo to record his confession on October 23, 2000.
Excerpts from Kit Mateo’s interview with GMA-7:

FACT: Mr. Mateo was pardoned by President Estrada in 2001 for humanitarian reasons. He died two months later.

FACT: Mrs. Mateo denied that they were offered huge sums of money by C/Supt. Lacson or anyone to make the retraction. It was all a matter of conscience for her husband.

FACT: In retaliation, Mr. Tulfo directed the reenactment of the alleged crimes described in Mr. Mateo’s false testimony and aired the same in his TV program on Ch 9 and on Channel 13. Both TV stations are managed and controlled by the Arroyo government.

FACT: Senator Lacson filed a libel case against Mr. Tulfo and RPN-9 officials for airing the false testimony of Mr. Mateo even knowing fully well that the latter had recanted.

FACT: Contrary to rumors that Senator Lacson murders his enemies, his detractors are still alive and well: FG Mike Arroyo, Col. Victor Corpus, P/D Reynaldo Berroya, Mary Ong, Blanquita Pelaez, Ramon Tulfo, to name a few. Many of them have continued their relentless attacks against him to this day.

Berroya's Lie: "Ping Lacson is gay."
TRUTH: Another fiction by C/Supt. Berroya.

FACT: As a PMA cadet, Cadet Lacson was ordered to participate in the academy’s traditional fellowship program dressed as a woman.

FACT: When the Philippine Military Academy was still an all-male institution, it traditionally held its “Frolics Night” (a.k.a. “Hundred Nights Show”) designating some cadets to dress and play the roles of “girls”. Berroya insults hundreds more of PMAers who were ordered to participate in past ‘Frolics’.

FACT: C/Supt. Reynaldo Berroya used a picture taken in 1967 during the “Frolics Night” as his only proof for his malicious labeling.

FACT: Sen. Gregorio Honasan II and other police and military generals were ordered to play the same roles at one time or another.

FACT: Senator Lacson is married to Alice de Perio, a former commercial model who hails from Pangasinan, with whom he has three sons.

Mary "Rosebud" Ong: Exposes or Lies Under Oath?
LIE: Rosebud knew all about Ping Lacson’s illegal drug activities.
TRUTH: Rosebud never worked with Senator Lacson in any police operation at any time in the past. In fact, her checkered past reveals her propensity to lie under oath.

FACT: Rosebud’s US visa was withdrawn by the US Embassy in Manila In May 2005 because of her reported activities in drug trafficking.

FACT: Rosebud admitted in July 2005 she was promised P5 million to implicate Sen. Lacson. She complained to the media when FG Mike Arroyo failed to pay. But she quickly became silent after being paid by a retired PNP official using jueteng proceeds. She is again busy discrediting Sen. Lacson over the Hello Garci tapes.

FACT: Rosebud never worked with C/Supt. Lacson’s Task Force Habagat and PAOCTF at any time.

FACT: Rosebud was only familiar with the NarcGroup operations (not with PAOCTF) but she used her familiarity with some details of Operation ‘Athena’ and ‘Cyclops’ to make her claim credible in implicating P/Dir. Lacson. In effect, what she told the Senate were half-truths and half-lies.

FACT: Contrary to Rosebud’s claim, PAOCTF was never involved in the planning and execution of NarcGroup’s Operation “Athena” and “Cyclops”. PNP records show that it was C/Supt. Rey Acop and C/Insp. Campos who led NarcGroup operations.

FACT: The events and scenarios described by Rosebud, Col. Corpus and C/Supt. Rey Berroya to establish the “narco link” between PAOCTF and NarcGroup did not reconcile with the service records of Senator Lacson and Supt. John Campos.

FACT: C/Supt. Lacson was on “floating status” and PAOCTF was still not organized at the time Rosebud claimed C/Supt. Lacson was seen dividing the profits from the sale of confiscated shabu among his men.

FACT: Rosebud and Col. Corpus refused to face the media after Senator Lacson exposed their lie about the two convicted Chinese drug traffickers whom he allegedly helped escape. The two convicts, Chan Que and Sen Lao Phie, convicted drug lords arrested in 1999, are in Occidental Mindoro still serving jail terms.

FACT: Mary Ong (alias Rosebud) was the product of a media-hype financed by FG Mike Arroyo and her true background was never known to the public. Her capacity to lie can be discerned by her criminal records.

    FACT: Rosebud’s criminal profile:
    * Cases filed against her: Estafa, Credit Fraud, Blackmail
    * Aliases: Rosebud, Mary Ong-Gaba, Ana Valera, Trinidad Tabora
    * Estafa Cases: Caloocan City MTC (4 counts) Criminal Case Nos. 186454, 186455, 186456, 186457
Makati City Criminal Case Nos. 32894, 32895
    Mandaluyong City (8 counts) Criminal Case Nos. 70746, 70747, 70748, 70749, 70750, 70751, 70752, 70753

    * As of May 2004, fourteen (14) criminal counts with Warrants of Arrest Issued. Two (2) warrants still pending.
    * Credit Card Fraud: Citibank Corp., Diners Club International, American Express (P20 Million).

FACT: Rosebud had an extensive drug network. She was in constant contact with Chong Yuk Sui, and Ah-Tau, a drug lord based in Macau. In May 1998, Mary Ong and her mother Dolores Ong were arrested for drug trafficking in an entrapment operation by a NBI team, led by Martin Soriano. P2 million worth of shabu was found in their possession.

FACT: In September 1992, Rosebu7d was arrested for trafficking around 30 kilograms of Shabu through air parcel delivery. The criminal case filed against her in Pasay City was dismissed after one of the prosecution’s witnesses, SPO1 Elmer Pueda, and his lawyer were killed in a “shoot-out” at the Magallanes Shopping Center by S/Supt. Berroya. A criminal case was filed in court against S/Supt. Berroya and his men.

FACT: Rosebud and her family are now fully financially supported by government funds under the “government witness protection program” arranged by Gen. Corpus in spite of the fact that she is not a witness in any pending court case.

Ramon Tulfo vented his anger on Senator Lacson who exposed him as a "certified extortionist" in his "Incredible Hulk" privilege speech last August 18, 2003. He promised his readers that “he would get even."
