in case u don't know, the NPT is a landmark international treaty whose objective is to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and weapons technology, to promote co-operation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and to further the goal of achieving nuclear disarmament and general and complete disarmament. The Treaty represents the only binding commitment in a multilateral treaty to the goal of disarmament by the nuclear-weapon States. Opened for signature in 1968, the Treaty entered into force in 1970. A total of 187 parties have joined the Treaty, including the five nuclear-weapon States. More countries have ratified the NPT than any other arms limitation and disarmament agreement, a testament to the Treaty's significance.

but IMHO, i think it's an imperialist ploy of the major powers of the world to keep their position on top; they just can't stand the thought of letting a backwater power suddenly gain the power of the atom

I'm getting tired of posting this...This is not "America vs. No. Korea", it's an INTERNATIONAL consensus of opinion voiced against No. Korea's nuclear endeavors. Many people posting here seem to be in denial of that fact. Does your government here have an official stance on this topic? I can't recall ever hearing it.. Can one of the more vocal members here enlighten me? What is the official Philippine Government's position on No. Korea's nuclear weapon/missle testing program? Basic question. And by the way, any person who isn't afraid of WMDs is a fool.

FYI America IS the front line of controlling WMD's in the world. if America won't step in and whine about the current situation in the north maybe the Abu Sayaf's could have acquired some of this weapons or the Taliban who is hiding in the mountains of Afghanistan. and do you think it is good for the Philippines? north Korea don't care what will happen to its neighboring countries instead it will indulge itself of the money they have accumulated for selling nuclear weapons/WMD's.

rolling back to WWII. America did nothing when the Nazi's invaded most of Europe. when they did nothing Japan(AXIS power during WWII) attacked pearl harbor.

this issue is not America's alone, this is a global crisis, without the control of the UN north Korea might start WWIII...
