@papa lord: Very good points and very well said bai. My opinions on HOI, mahal siya gamay BUT it gives the Cebu musicians another option on QUALITY recording. I have heard one track that was recorded from your studio and it was good, though I think it can still be improved but I know you (and the rest of HOI engineers) know that and are professional enough to always practice your skills and enhance them.

Bitaw, let's not try and make a big fuss on competition between recording studios and or sound engineers since most of them are there to help us get our sound out to the audience and listeners. And as for the bands, praktis lang ta ug maayo para nindot ug limpyo ang gawas sa atong tracking sa pag-record nato.

@visayaya: Mao sir! Communication is very vital sa recording process pod. And I like it when you said that SILLY IDEAS MUST BE WELCOMED because sometimes those silly ideas can be improvised and could result to good ideas hehe...

Haha mao mao kay lagpas man na idea... Payter! Bai, ask lang ko unsa diay ka na studio under? Ug unsa pod na mga bands imong na mix kay diba ikaw mantong "sky is the limit" na mix hehe... Thanks daan.

you still cant blame the engineer even if the bands performance and the raw sound was good unless all the mixing decisions were made by the engineer. in the real world people have to understand that the costumer is always right coz they are the ones paying the dues, you may have a little input on things sometimes but more often than never you get them assholes who think they are the only people in the world who knows everything, what im trying to say is what if that asshole is the bassplayer and he decides to increase the bass guitar volume on the mix making it very muddy, cant blame the engineer for that one.

This will play a big role during mixing. Kong ganahan ka masayod kong pareha o dili pareha ang response sa control room ni galen ug mikmik, pagdala ug recording sa imo pinaka ganahan nga foriegn mix(ex. Green Day, etc) unya ipatukar sa room ni galen ug mikmik and try to note/memorize its sonic response in both rooms. Maggamit sad ni ninyo nga basihanan inig mix ninyo para ma-compensate ninyo ang frequency ups and downs sa room which results to better translation to the outside world. pa bantayi gyud na ang lower mid range(120-350Hz) kay mao ni nga range where most intrument's fundamental freq. mag overlap ug mawala ang clarity sa kada instrumento tungod ani nga overlap/masking. basi lang pud ni sa ako experience, sa dili pa mogamit ug EQ, try to arrange the instruments in your sound stage(the PANORAMA pots). this will save you in equing and save CPU resources and also avoid the masking effect. masking effect happens when two signals of the same freq and same direction/panning are sounded at same time but with different amplitudes, ang signal nga mas taas ug amplitude mo tabon sa signal nga gamay ug amplitude. anhi dinhi gamit kaayo ang panorama pots to redirect signals. i call panpots as direction pots para dali sabton.

bahin sad sa balancing sa vocals ug uban pa, dapat dili na angay sitahon ang engineer kay kong dili kabantay ang engineer naa diay wala ma balance, then he is not doing his job. at least, ang engineer mobasa gyud sa lyrics ug iya sabton ang mensahe sa kanta para naa siya idea ug ma apply niya during sa mixing.

Pagkahoman sad sa static mix, that's the time to take advantage of automation to add dynamics and excitement to your song. Music without dynamics is boring and lifeless. And don't think dynamics is only applicable to classical music, it can be apply also to other genre. Music is analogous to life, life without ups and downs(dynamics in music) is boring. You see, there's more to mixing.

Unya, experiment, experiment and don't quit. And know the rules before you break it..

Hinaut maka tabang ako idea bisag gamay ra..

    Thanks.
