Surely there can be a lot that can benefit from this - Customs, BIR, LTO, NSO, etc ... even the Dept. of Education. I know I can't compare the scenario there in the Philippines and here Singapore where I now live, all the conveniences of having information right at your fingertips, gov. transactions are made much much easier. There were already a lot of broadband providers here in Singapore but the gov. still chooses to build up its own broadband network - its like a government VPN.

My argument is - is that the NBN is still very much beneficial but it may have come too soon for its time.
The question here is... if the project is implemented at THIS time... will these government agencies be able to use it properly?

    Here's a possible scenario.

THE BiG FG --knowing the mandate prohibiting the families of politicians to stay out in the business dealings of the government-- was just relaying this fact to Lil' Joey DeeVee~ that he should stay out of the NBN deal because his father is the Speaker of the House!

And Lil' Joey DeeVee just took it the wrong way and assumed that THE BiG FG was into the deal when all THE BiG FG was doing was guiding him to the right way.

    Again, just a scenario.

possible... but Highly Unlikely... the presence of the FG in the meeting sa Wakwak says a lot... Why was he there? What possible reason would he have for meddling in the NBN deal?

[color=navy]WakWak is a golf and country club. A lot of people could be there for a lot of reasons other than being present and participant of the NBN deal at that particular time.

The Big FG could have just been there to play a round of golf or eat a meal or meet some friends or for business. Not necessarily the NBN business, may I be quick to add.

And besides perhaps he is already familiar with Lil' Joey DeeVee, being already familiar with the father Big JDV. So he thought of dropping by and saying hello and cracking a joke as men would do in business and bonding.

All in all, I am not taking sides here just showing the possible scenarios so that people would consider carefully before coming to conclusions without basis. Because when we think of it, all the information we have is just hearsay. He said this, he said that.

DOTC Secretary Mendoza already denied any involvement of the FG on the NBN deal. He said that the meet up was just a chance encounter and the FG did not know Joey De Venecia. The FG is a golfer. It's Joey's presence that is suspicious. Why would he be talking to government officials and make propositions regarding the broadband project? Maybe he was not aware that he was prohibited to enter into contracts. It's his involvement that is higly suspicious.

and you believe what Secretary Mendoza said? There's nothing suspicious about JDVIII's appearance as he was trying to get the NBN contract... the legality of his involvement can be debated in another forum. I personally believe JDVIII trying to get the contract was wrong in the first place as he is the son of Speaker JDV. The testimony of Finance Secretary Teves and the explanation of secretary mendoza places the FG, Abalos and the ZTE people MEETING UP in the wakwak club house.... What do you think they were talking about?

[color=navy]All we have at best here is hearsay and assumptions. One's testimony against another.

Unless someone comes up with a audio or video recording of the Lil Joey DeeVee's meeting with The Big FG, that's all we're going to keep on having: hearsay and assumptions.

I am just wondering is that enough to condemn anyone?

Yes.... if through cross examination and other evidence (documents, witnesses) the person reveals information that proves or disproves his or her testimony and justifies or discredits the benefits of the NBN deal.

They didnt even know how many municipalities would benefit from it. Clearly these government agencies were just looking for reasons to justify this NBN as they have not done due diligence in their feasibility studies.

I watched the whole proceeding yesterday from 230pm to 9pm and based on their testimonies... the admin side was not able to discredit JDV III's elaborate story.

Audio and Video recordings would certainly help prove or disprove the case but are you saying that If a case does not have these that there's no way to prove innocence or guilt?

You have the finance secretary stating under oath that there was indeed a meeting.... would that not be of value or would you still need audio / video recordings?

JDV was quoted and admitted that it was just a CHANCE encounter with the FG in Wakwak.

I'm afraid this project will just end up like the NAIA 3...we will then be left again by our neighbors
