    Its more of a graphics based lag. lag caused by insufficient RAM
    is entirely diferrent type of lag.

    Graphical lag is when the screen has a lot of frame skips or has a very
    rough movement,

    while lag cuase by insufecient ram has a frequent
    pause and go, type of lag due to more data cached to the HD
    and HDs are way slower compared to RAM.

    I think biased ang DOOM3 Engine. It runs better on a Nvidia Graphics card.
    Nwy, heres the specs that CPL will be using in their Quake 4 Qualifier.

    * Intel Desktop Board D925XECV2
    * Intel Pentium 4 XE 3.46 GHz (1066 MHz FSB)
    * 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 533
    * NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT 256MB PCIe
    * 2x80GB SATA Raid 0
    * Intel High Definition Audio
    * Microsoft Windows XP Professional

    These are my old pc specs:
    *ASUS P4C800 Motherboard
    *Intel Pentium 4 3.0C @ 3.2GHz (Northwood)
    *1 GB Dual Channel DDR400
    *GeeCube Radeon X850XT Platinum Edition 256MB
    *160GB SATA
    *Microsoft Windows XP Professional

    Question is, where's the bottleneck here? I think my Video Card Generation is on par with the one's they are using so it leaves my processor and RAM. Is my processor that poor na? or is 1GB really not enough? It also could be that ATI really sucks at the DOOM3 Engine 'coz I really don't have any problems playing on Counter Strike Source and Day of Defeat Source (Half-Life 2 Engine).

    NOTE: I play quake 4 using 1280x1024 All High Settings V-Sync Enabled (I don't like to see rippings on my screen) no AA no AF

    you're right. ATI really sucks on Doom 3 engine. I heard DOOM 3 engine
    only enables pixel shader v1.1 on ATI cards while ATI VC's are capable of pixel shader v3., while on the Nvidia side doom 3
    can enable pixel shader v3.

    But there are some good news ever heard about the release of new ATI drivers? ATI claim that they fixed Doom 3's poor perofrmance on ATI cards. they claim increased performance upto 30%.

    whats you're comments? on this

    My Rig Specs:

    Gigabyte K8n-Pro
    AMD Athlon 64 3200
    Memory: 1 Gig Corsair XMS Memory------upgraded to 2 Gig Patriot Xtreme Performance
    A.I.W. X800 XT 256 MB

    With my Old Ram...no problems w/ Quake 4 but I do have little issues on F.E.A.R.Â* But when I upgrade my RAM, both games run smooth w/ V-Sync enabled.

    @ brown_dog - w/ ATI's new drivers, Doom 3 base Engine's are no longer an issue w/ ATI Cards.Â* :mrgreen:

    ATI can't beat Nvidia in running doom3. Even ATI's latest Vcard can't match 7800. ^_^

    True...True...Source Engine Favors ATI where the 7800 was Trounce....while Doom 3 Engine favors Nvidia where the 7800 blows literally every ATI card out there & even the upcoming X1800.
    ATI needs to come up a much better card.Â* ATI did say that the GPU for the X-Box 360 has "48 pipelines"...so that makes you wonder if ATI made PC gamers as a after thought.

    That is why Im not making a Huge step of updating or upgrading until the smokes gets cleared. So far my Rig performs well for the time being.Â*

    Not so sure about that, wait till the release of the new ATI drivers.
