    Performance wise.. it seems as if the 8800GT outperforms the 8800GTS (both 320 and 640mb)...

    Price wise... it should be in between 8600 and 8800...

    Ati better bring their A game with the HD 2950.

    according to unofficial benchmarks... RV670 or the HD 2950pro is faster than the G92/8800GT by a few hundreds in synthetic benchmark -- 3dmark06 specifically. nvidia is in fact acknowledging nga ang G92 is slightly slower than ATI's RV670. that's why they moved the release date from november 12 to october 29.

    Yup.. I came across that article on G92 / Nvidia.

    I do hope the HD2950 lives up to its billing as AMD has had the bad rep of having all bark and no bite... delayed releases, over promising and under delivering. My position on AMD... I'll believe it when I see it or when I can buy it already...

    Also, 3dmark06 isnt a guarantee of performance in actual games. It's more of a marketing tool to sell graphics cards IMO.
    Just look at Geforce 8600 in 3dmark. The scores are higher compared to Geforce 79xx series and X19xx series but the card performs slower in actual game benchmarks). (exception is the slow performing X1950GT w/c is a crippled X1950pro)

    VR-Zone has learned that the official marketing name for RV670 will be Radeon HD 3800 series. Previously, they are known as Radeon HD 2950 series. Interestingly, one of the AIB partners has even listed out Radeon HD 3800 on their website. Earlier, AMD has made changes to the naming of the Phenom processors and now the changes are being made to the graphics cards too. As such, AMD has decided to drop PRO, XT, GT, XTX from their future HD 3000 series graphics series and the last 2 digits of the series will determine the performance of the card. RV670PRO will be known as Radeon HD 3850 while RV670XT will be know as Radeon HD 3870 when they are launched on Nov 15th.

    @emoners

    nice catch bro!

    Looks like AMD wants to start clean with RV670.

    Hopefully this will translate to better products for 2008.
