As SMC takes over the 49% of PAL, hopefully ma materialize ang mga plano sa PAL, esp the fleet modernization program. Some of PAL's aircraft needs to retire. And hopefully ma regain natu ang FAA Category 1 and ma lift na ang ban sa EU airspace, para full blast na dyud atung flag carrier. Btw, PAL cannot compete directly with the country’s fast-growing LCC sector given its higher unit costs and legacy structure.

Monolopy in disguise gyud na. The oligarchs are risen since the year 1987 and they are getting much stronger than before. Mao nay resulta sa "FREEDOM" for all Filipinos daw tungod so much celebrated nga EDSA Revolution by the late Cory Aquino. Kinsa naman ang naay big control run halos sa Philippine businesses? Is it the Filipinos nga dili gikan sa oligarch nga families? Hell no. It is obviously those rich, powerful, and influential families which runs in different businesses from media to electric companies, etc. I hope we will have somewhat kind of a parliamentary government. Performance over popularity.

PAL eyes 100 new planes to beef up fleet

Philippine Airlines plans to acquire up to 100 new aircraft over the next five years, marking its most aggressive refleeting effort since the mid-1990s, according to the flag carrier’s new president.

In an interview with the Inquirer, newly appointed PAL president Ramon Ang said the new aircraft would come in the form of regional single-aisle planes like the Airbus A320 and it’s higher capacity variant, the A321, as well as longer range wide-body jets.
“These 100 aircraft will include the ones we will buy to replace the old ones we have in our fleet now,” Ang said.

He declined to give an estimate of how much the new fleet would cost the airline, since pricing with aircraft makers are often subject to negotiations.

In particular, Ang said he would want to do more business with US plane maker Boeing, which only has seven aircraft in PAL’s present 37-plane fleet.
