I actually did some research sir mark since im really planning to get an ipod for chirstmas. hehehe!

I found out how to tell the differences between the old 5th generation ipod from the new 5.5 enhanced generation.

1) The 5.5G iPod has Johnny Depp as 'Captain Jack Sparrow' from "The Pirates Of The Caribean" on the box.
The 5th Generation has Bono of U2.

2) If you don't have the box, on the iPod, select 'Music', and then scroll to the bottom. If 'Search' is there, it's a new one.

3) The 5.5 has the new earbud style -- no foam earmuffs.

4) Probably the best way:
The 5.5G serial number's last three digits will be one of the following: V9K, V9P, V9M, V9R, V9L, V9N, V9Q, V9S, WU9, WUA, WUB, and WUC.

ah ok, yes...it will be the new 5.5G ipods same price as posted in the 1st page...with johnny in front...the song Dani California from the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Arcadium on the other side...
