Mayor Jonas should put the stalls near the tourism office near the landbank office across the City Hall.. they have a big place there.. it's not a sidewalk & it's just near the "heart" of the city.. I'm sure the mayor won't mind it.. perhaps reclamador can help in this regard..

Definitely the sidewalks needs to be cleaned up.. perhaps they can clean up those vehicles parking illegally on the streets & sidewalks all over mandaue city next.. & while we are on the topic of cleaning up, perhaps Mayor Jonas can "clean up" those corrupt people in City Hall.. they are definitely giving Mandaue a bad image! Discipline definitely needs to be implemented in Mandaue..

p.s. Kudos to Mayor Jonas for finally cleaning up the sidewalks without prejudice to anyone.. that's political will.. I know it's change for the better..

Agree ko anang taas. Nice if we would still have the chance to showcase our local products. Ug agree pud ko nga the Mayor should clean up the leeches in the City Hall.

I am in the business world and understood fully the sentiments of the sidewalk vendors. The real question that people should understand is "What is the Purpose of Sidewalk?". If the purpose of the said sidewalk is for the safety of the public...I believe that Atty. Tianero is perfectly right about sending them away. They should rent stalls in the public market so as not to be unfair of those vendors selling there and paying the rent at the same time. This also brings safety to those who wants to walk in the sidewalk. I was once walking in that area, due to many vendors, I was forced to pass by the streets. My son was almost sideswiped by a PUJ. Let us be reminded that sidewalks are for the public to pass by and should not be obstructed. Let us not be selfish to think about own interest but respect the public right which is the right not to be obstructed and to walk safely in the sidewalk. I know that many of vendors claimed not being notified but I do have friends in the market as well as in the city hall, they admit that they were warned but some refused to abide by it. Fyi, this is a direct order from the mayor to clean the sidewalk without exceptions.

Being a developing country we should instead of remaining stagnant be, well..... developing which means progressing from the past chaos into something more structured and obviously improved. Clearing sidewalks is a positive step, I just hope we can follow up this initiative with proper drainage and removal of messy overhead wires in favor of underground cables.

    I totally agree with you.

@deepscrew - I heard there is a plan of errecting a building for the land registry/bureau somehow bad news ni sa mga amigo natong tig basketball diha. It would congest the area some more if anha e butang and mga squatting vendors. I am hoping that the mayors plan of putting up a dry market at the existing market would solve the problem a bit.
