By the way according to the moderators, you are not allowed to cite bible verses. Understand?
it even surprises me why the mods still tolerate the opening of new ones at all.

Yes, in that many things that happen to us are do to the bad things that we have done to ourselves and our bodies. BUT than again no, because sometime bad things happen to good people; just as sometimes good things happen to bad people. It is God's will and is beyond our understanding.

My mother was a good woman who died young from several cancers, which required several surgeries and long term Chemotherapy, and died at the age of 50. What could she have possible done to deserve those horrible 10 years of pain and sickness. I had been an Atheist for years but it angered me and drove me even further from God, for I was angry at him for allowing this to happen to her. I blamed him, cursed him, and shook my fist at him and screamed to the top of my lungs. The night she died so did something in my heart. I was even colder and dark than before.

Two years later my only child was born. My wife and I were finally happy. we had married, separated, divorced, reconciled, remarried and now we were holding my son. I had been an evil bastard in my youth, a cold killer in the Corps, serious womanizer, and an asshole to live with. I still had a hollow cold spot in my heart and was still angry at God for my mother. Several of my friends at work would challenge my Atheist belief and I being an Evolutionary Biologist really wanted to slam it home on them. Damn Christian Pious Pricks. I found my knowledge of the Biblical text was lacking, which weakened my ability to challenge them with true efficiency. I picked up the old bible which belonged to my mother and started on the first page and read the book through to the last page. Something in my heart was alive again. I found my faith, what a trick God played on me. He used my desire to disbelieve against me, and used it to lift me from my darkness. That light will not dim again and my heart is warm. I am a changed being.

That is when I understood that bad things can be you fault but most bad things are random events. You can shake you fist and ask, "Why Me?" and the answer is "Why not you!" It is also a matter of Statistics. If you take every positive and negative event that can possibly happen to a population of 6 Billion; each will have a number of the percentage of the population effected by that event. Life is like a huge Roulette Wheel and everyone takes a spin for each event, some will win but most will lose. Have cancer take a spin, win the lottery take a spin, die young take a spin, live old take a spin. good things and bad things alike, each require a spin. Everyone takes the chance but statistically only so many will win that prize. Why not you.

Now you can do things that require no spin, the act almost insures the negative outcome. The bad things that happen to us. We are after all born to suffer, endure and die. If good things happen to you than you are ahead of the game. Life is a possible 120 years of constant spins on that wheel. Sounds like Karma, but Karma is only the part of the spin we can control, because so mush is out of our reach to understand. Sometime bad and good things happen around us to test all those involved.

Yes bad things happen to good people, and good thing happen to bad people. It is fate and Karma but mostly it is to test our humanity and the true depth of our character. Does it effect the outcome of other spins? Who knows? God.

@thread starter: problems are brought upon by man himself. they are not punishments but merely consequences for every action he thought, felt, and did.
