    For me, ok ra man tingali kung maski tibuok pamilya, tibuok kabanayan mo serve in public, basta mga maayong tawo lang pud ug dili harap-harapan mangurakot. Pero ug tibuok pamilya unya maoy mag hari2x ug mang hawod2x, gamit ilang position, ug halos himoon na lang nga family business ang gobyerno, maypa mamahuway na silang tanan.

    Reality check: u r correct. that's how landed elites work. If non-politicians, thru their political connections. If politicians, thru their network of politicians. Mupalit ba diay na cla ug yuta knowing it will eternally remain a rocky, untenable or hardly accesible land (by vehicle) and without a significant appreciation in lot value for a short period of time? of course dili.

    They always, I repeat, always, knew in advance where development will hit and what type for their personal or business favor. Then the seller of those lands is kept in the dark and won't even have an inch of idea that their lot will appreciate in value once there is the planned development.

    For example, if a plan is still in the drawing board to develop a transcentral highway. Before the plan hits mainstream media (or even a rumor leaks out), these landed elites are already one step ahead. They buy lands that will be along the planned highway.

    Even Lito O. was criticized when the Cebu Business Park was still on progress because it was found out (albeit the news reached ra sa mga privileged few) that he had some business interests in it, thus a conflict of interest.

    Anyways, we can't blame them. It is already their inherent nature. Besides, it is already a voter mindset that landed elites are better patrons and bosses than those that are not. Colonial mentality, simply put.

    Now back more on the topic, I am not 100%, nor even greater than 51% in voting Lito O. again to public office. Let's say nag 50-50 pako. why? why only now from over a decade of silence and out of the country and, now suddenly appear in the limelight during the height when Serge wants back into the Senate slate? and other than that, why there was no question about his health? Di ba toh na cancer man ni cya, naupaw paman gani to sometime ago?

    I say Lito O running therefore making 2 Osmenas na for the senate is a bad move. The Phils is not Cebu u know...akong pangagpas is that if this Serge-Lito will really push thru, it will be one Osmena losing the race (or worse, both).

    I am not here to compare who helped more in the Ormoc tragedy. I was only here to cite that Gwen was also instrumental in helping in that tragedy and I don't mean there were no other people helping. Just ask your favorite Jack Jakosalem and im pretty sure you will get a nod from him.

    Yes, I've been to Alegria and Malabuyoc. In fact, I have some relatives there. They are what u usually called ghost or sleepy towns, the same breadth u describe to Borbon in the North. But to cite only 2 towns to disprove the general standing of the entire Cebu Province is not a good argument. That is also not the way to judge a town just because it is sleepy. You have to dig statistics if this town improved or not economically, or why it remained that way.

    and the term "upwardly mobile" did not come from me. it came from an article by a certain Mojares, a political analysis observer. I don't even exactly know what that term really means...

    and btw, Cebu has the potential for tourism domestically and internationally. Mao na gi promote. That's the project of Ace Durano to which the Province just cooperated.

    - im pretty sure i didnt post anything about jack the wack in this thread so why is he my favorite?
    you speak for me now?

    - here's more..
    *Aloguinsan
    *Asturias
    * Dumanjug
    * Ginatilan
    * Madridejos
    * Medellin
    * Tabogon
    * Tabuelan

    Tabuelan is the home town of my mother and they even have a beach resort there and basically they also have a docking station for vessels coming in from Negros but if you there lively hood there it's just plain poor.. it remained that way because provincial govt isnt making any move within the province.. Spending money on suroy-suroy sugbo and airsoft games cant do anything about poverty. it wouldve been better if they spend it on the province. my lolo's place is even in the list of gwens suroy-suroy sugbo history but i dont like it. seeing gwen making the round makes me laugh. she's really having a good time..

    it's not potential, i think Cebu's already a tourism place and the best that the provincial govt should do is make sure that they put in money to towns so they can improve better and attract more tourist.. Not by doing suroy-suroy sugbo and financing airsoft games..

    i think you mean with the other post i made.. for me when i say politician its serving the country and making profit for yourself too.. give me a politician wherein they're not robbing the people..
    even if we put ourselves in place we'd be making money for ourselves too..

    and for the record i dont like Serge III and John.. I vote for them its because they're Cebuanos.. I love to vote for Tomas but problem is where currently voting here in Mingla.. Lito i think is sick for the past few years and even though he just came out of the closet now i will still vote for him since i really think that the brains of all the Osmena's run through Lito and Johnny..

    Bro, you are right: whoever is in the authority will, more often than not, use power for one's interests! And I think this the TRAGEDY of Filipino politics .. Ako sad ba? I think not .. I never dreamed becoming a politician .. hehe ..

    Now back to the Osmena's .. I for sure will not vote for serge .. hehe .. once in an interview, he said he is not a cebuano! He is an ilonggo, he said. Take that what he means ..
